Review: With five tracks to choose from, this autumnal taste-of-summer from reliable sorts Leftroom is a bit of a bumper package. It offers plenty of reliable dancefloor fodder in the label's now familiar late night style, a cosy mix of contemporary deep house, old skool sassiness and booming, big room grooves. There's a touch of OTT piano flavour from Jack Riley and a surprisingly jolly excursion from former Mixmag man Gavin Herlihy, but for the most part it's faithfully dark and dubby. Throughout, there's enough quality to suggest that the whole EP should be an essential purchase.

Review: Maher and Casa provide something different from run of the mill minimal house. "Malgra" starts off with dreamy chords and rasping off-beats before building into a pulsing groove. Emerson Todd's take is a pleasant deep house affair, but on this occasion the best remixes focus on a peak-time approach. Kaiserdisco's version is a big room minimal-style affair, but amid the walls of white noise and dense sheets of percussion there lurks a droning bass that packs more menace than a kennel full of starved Rottweilers. Acid Mondays also deliver a fine jacking interpretation, its rolling drums supporting jarring riffs and firing percussion.
