Makoto At Juno Download

Review: Japan isn't the first place that springs to mind when you think of D&B but Makoto is a serious talent who has impressed over the years and now brings his Another Generation EP. Making a foray away from the D&B tempo, this four-track EP sees him explore pastures new. "Another Generation" is all dreamy atmospherics, hissing beats and hypnotic rhythms, while "Summer Nights" is an explorative piece with shimmying melodies and rippling SFX. "73" is a blissed out atmospheric piece and then last but not least "Skyline" brings the EP to a close with pumping 4/4 beats and spaced out SFX.

Review: Japanese producer Makoto is most known for his D&B output and work with Good Lookin' but that hasn't stopped him venturing outside these realms and foraging in new musical territory. This release on 7even Recordings brings together many aspects of his influence to great success. "Different Rhythm" is all percussive shuffle, weighty bass and shimmying rhythms wich are deeply enticing. "What Do You Want" starts with a flurry of clips and claps and muffled vocal but progresses into a sublime tune full of gorgeous synths and beautiful harmonies. Dreamy.
