Never Stop - (6:17) 122 BPM

Review: Having begun the year with a stone-cold dancefloor slayer - their brilliant revision of "Criticize" on Kojak Giant Sounds - Brighton twosome Maxxi Soundsystem attempt to end 2011 with a similar smash. "Make Or Break" certainly has similar potential, coming on like an inspired fusion between Balearic-flavoured nu-disco and bass-heavy Julio Bashmore/Futureboogie-ish house (think wobbly, dubby bass, cut-up R&B vocals and touchy-feely pads). Both "There's No Love" and "Never Stop" take a similarly E'd-up approach, with the latter adding a touch more synth-funk bottom end for maximum dancefloor pressure. Look out for these guys in 2012.

Stella's Way (Shall Ocin remix) - (7:03) 123 BPM
from $1.49
Review: Scoring big hits across the modern house underground, Maxxi Soundsystem makes his way to Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio imprint for the warm and soothing tones of "Stella's Way", which centres around a looping synth riff that sounds as though it was lifted straight out of 80s radio. Huxley's remix pares down any such frivolities, homing in on the scattered vocal flourishes and dropping a mean shuffle and off-key chords for some ultimately funky functionality. Shall Ocin rounds things off with a version that capitalises on the lush melodies of the original and bolsters them with additional synths for an equally fuzzy jaunt.

Regrets We Have No Use For (Matthew Herbert remix) - (6:13) 118 BPM
from $1.49
Review: With this latest single, Brighton's bass-heavy house fella, Maxxi Soundsystem, marks the beginning of a new collaboration with the shady Name One. "Regrets We Have No Use For" is a marching clap a long with a dark, but melodic, throbbing bass that pulsates all throughout. As the record progresses, emotive pads build and swirl around Name One's simple vocal, evoking memories of Enjoy The Silence-era Depeche Mode. Matthew Herbert delivers a lighter mix that still keeps the mystery but ditches the more gothy aspects of the original.

I Don't Care (PBR Streetgang remix) - (8:01) 118 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.49
Review: Brighton dwellers Maxxi Soundsystem and Thomas Gandey (he of Cagedbaby fame) join forces for a jaunt on Moda Black. "I Don't Care" is the epitome of house in 2012 - all vaguely touchy-feely chords, pitched-down vocal oddness and ket-addled beats straight from the big room rulebook. "Shake Your Head" flips the script, offering a deeper groove and some deliciously tactile melodies (oh, and Gandey doing his best impression of Michael McDonland). Remix-wise, Jaymo & Andy George get out the big bassline and skippy beats on their version of "Shake Your Head", while PBR Streetgang deliver a slick chunk of bespoke house.
