Portuguese newcomer Modo Fractal has a very skewed audio remit and it's an engaging, if a little confrontational, listening experience throughout. "Eggo" rolls on a time signature that hasn't been invented yet. A skewiff swagger and some gurgling bass and stirring organic instrumentation, it's less for mixing and more for deep, hypnotic listening. "Cloud 9" is a tad more conventional (but only just) thanks to some enchanting minor chords, wistful arpeggios and super squiggly synth work. Captivating fringe funk; if Badmood hadn't snapped this up, you could imagine Brainfeeder doing so in a jiffy.
