Review: Leeds-based funk fourpiece The New Mastersounds have been beavering away, bashing out the boogaloo since way back in 1999. In that time, they've release around 10 albums of original material and a dizzying array of singles. This second "Introduction" - read 'best of' - from Germany's Legere Recordings collects together hits, B-sides, live tracks and killer album jams from the Yorkshire band's career to date. Those unfamiliar with the New Mastersounds' approach would do well to dive in, because it offers a great summary of what they're all about (i.e killer instrumental and vocal funk, soul, jazz-funk and boogaloo in a revivalist style).
