Review:
In most instances, so-called modern deep house merely pays lip service to the sounds and techniques of the past. In Poliakov's case however, it is clear that he is one of the few contemporary producers with an intuitive feel for house music. "Superservant" is a building chord-driven deep techno groove, its hissing hats and heavy drums underpinning Poliakov's musical approach. The title track is more laid back tempo-wise, but the same heavy claps and swirling melodies prevail. However, it's "Leaving That Place" which really impresses - with its swinging drums and eerie, dreamy melody hook, it's reminiscent of vintage Two Lone Swordsmen house material, which is as high a compliment as possible.
