Onsulade is clearly at his best when doing things differently. Here, he does just that, delivering two cute, curious and rather fine cuts for Defected's In The House offshoot. With its sumptuous strings, sparse, organic beats and delicious easy listening vocal sample, "Dionne" (yep, Ms Warwick) is particularly delightful, delivering just the right balance between dreamy, wide-eyed goodness and dancefloor shuffle. "What Gets You High" is equally as impressive, though some will find the odd, pitched-up vocals a little hard to take. That aside, it's a bit of a belter, delivering a loose and baggy mix of organic percussion, tumbling Rhodes keys and warm electronics.
House music's premier spiritualist pops up on Innervisions, as label stalwarts Ame and Dixon have a crack at reworking "Envision" from his recent Yoruba LP Pyrography. The Ame Remix in particular is a bit of a doozy, turning the shuffling original into a quietly anthemic epic - all darting synth melodies, warm chords, sparse percussion and delicious riffs wrapped around Osunlade's original vocal. Ame also provide a more stripped down, soft focus Acoustic Remix, while bossman Dixon stays fairly faithful to the original on his ear-pleasing rework. All three versions have that mix of accessible and underground, soulful and electronic that should prove popular on dancefloors this summer.
