Peter Power At Juno Download

Review: Launching a new label borne from respected Berlin-based club Kleine Reise, the little known Peter Power and Dara have some decidedly leftfield disco to offer the world. While "Sun-K" sports a relatively standard (albeit punchy) disco house groove, the bass stabs come in on an Italo tip, and the icing on the cake is the unusual trails of overdriven guitar licks constantly freewheeling over the top of everything. It's an unsettling combination and the track is all the stronger for it. Dara's "Scribble Me This" works around a smooth, uplifting chord progression and a cheeky vocal lift from Little Dragon, taking an easy tempo but gently building in all the right places.
