Phaeleh At Juno Download

Review: At a time where dubstep seems to be increasingly chasing its own tail, Phaeleh - aka Matt Preston - is undoubtedly a shining light. On this third album, he attempts to push the genre's rigidly defined boundaries with a set that looks far and wide for inspiration. So while the rhythms employed come straight out of the dubstep rulebook, the accompanying music does not. "Think About It" and "From A Distance", for example, utilise flowing piano motifs to add oodles of much-needed emotion to the dubstep template, whilst "In The Twilight" and "Should Be True" cascade from the speakers like a bubbling mountain stream. Even the album's more traditional dub wise moments come accompanied by the sort of cute musical touches so often lacking in similar dubstep sets.
