Review: Raised on '80s electro-funk from the likes of D-Train and The Whispers, German producer and former DMC champ Pitchben has brought all of his influences together nicely on this debut album. From the low slung funk of "Keep Giving Me Love", the Daft Punk-flavoured "Friday Night" and the Biggie sampling "Time Machine", this is definitely one for fans of old-school electro soul as well as polished new-jacks like Chromeo.

Review: For those who love the early '90s synth-disco sound of the Prelude and Solar System labels, Pitchben's 2011 album Pitchslap was a deliriously fun blast from the past. Here, some of the outstanding cuts from that album get remixed. Tiger & Woods provide the best rework of the Whispers-ish "Stand Up", looping up the synths, vocals and grooves in their irresistible style. There's also a fine pair of deeper synth funk/house rubs from New Yorkers Runaway (check, in particular, the Dub), while Sportloto delivers a head-nodding nu-disco take on D-Train cover "Keep Giving Me Love". Finally, there's another chance to check Pitchben's sturdy cover of the Fantastic Aleems' "Get Down Friday Night".
