Polar Lights At Juno Download

Review: This is an interesting EP on many levels, not least because it emphasizes atmosphere over the demands of dancefloors. Check, for example, opener "Blame Game"; with its blend of analogue instruments, cozy vocals and snaking sax, it's more 'Sunday afternoon by the fire' than 'Sunday night at Space' (and that's no bad thing). Better still are "Telefonlines" and "My Old Vinyl", both of which mix moody deep house grooves with not so subtle disco and jazz references (George Benson style guitars, bright cowbells, warm Rhodes, that kind of thing). The pace is hardly sprightly, but that adds to Polar Lights' curious charm. Excellent warm up fare, basically.
