Reset At Juno Download

Review: Reset!'s piano-splashed retro house bomb was released earlier to great acclaim. Complete with Turbofunk and Summer Of Love remixes we thought it was a done deal. But no, Cheap Thrills had more in mind by giving emerging electro upstart LKiD a helping hand up the bass culture ladder. Respectfully leaving the spine-tingling elements in place (the emotive vocal, the euphoric pianos, the lolloping groove) he's added a rather silly squelchy bassline and naughty stabs into the mix giving it a whole new attitude-ridden edge. Stick it to the system.

Review: This digital reissue from Eclectic Avenue is special in a number of ways. Firstly, it sees the belated return of early 2000s Paper Recordings outfit Reset (aka Manc legends Elliot Eastwick, Miles Holloway and Merlin Garrett). Secondly, it's actually rather good. Casting aside their classic UK deep house sound, "Juicy" is a formidably organic chunk of baggy soul-jazz disco/house fusion - the sort of loose-limbed goodness that will fit snugly between all-live disco-funk and head-nodding slo-mo disco/house. There's an excellent LTJ Experience remix, too, which thickens the beats for more straightforward dancefloor thrills. It's good to have them back.
