Si Tew At Juno Download

Review: Since way back in 2007, young producer Si Tew has been a part of the extended Mantis Recordings family and a regular collaborator with Atjazz man Martin Iveson. Here he delivers his debut album, a very Mantis-ish collection of soft-focus broken beat, sultry house, off-kilter hip-hop and delicious modern soul. There are some breathtaking diversions along the way - see the impeccable, string-laden ambience of "Black & White" or the sharp P-funk influences displayed on "All You Need" - and enough well crafted vocal cuts to keep things interesting. It might not pull up many trees, but as debut albums go it's pretty slick.
