Review:
Wherein Kaiserdisco gets to grips with music from some of house music's biggest names and emerge smiling. The take on Steve Lawler's "Distrait" is classic Kaiserdisco, with heavy bongo drums leading into shaking percussion and later on a dramatic, string-led breakdown. Meanwhile, the take on Dualton's "Face Off" is slightly more understated, with stripped back, minimal rhythms underpinning insistent vocal sampling and an infectious disco filter. But the killer remix here is the re-rub of Booka Shade and label owner Marc Romboy's "Every Day In My Life". Over tribal beats and a huge filter, an unnamed woman sings the catchy refrain "I got something for your mind, your body and your soul /every day of my life". It's the kind of vocal refrain that will seduce even the most hardened purist.

Review:
By now, you should all know what you're getting from Steve Lawler, namely atmospheric darkroom fare that ebbs and flows with all the fluidity of a tropical snake. "Avaida (The Organ Track)" flips the script slightly, offering a more tactile approach, but the intoxicating atmospheres and long, drawn-out build-ups remain. As the title suggests, "Avaida (The Organ Track)" features plenty of fairground organ, peppering up a typically late night-centric groove. The shorter dub offers a decent alternative, while Miami veterans Murk go crazy on their 12-minute rework. Full of twisted noises, odd electronic stabs and near tribal drums, it's a thrill-a-minute alternative to Lawler's tactile original.

Review:
This summer, Steve Lawler is hosting a midweek party at Sankeys Ibiza under the Viva Warriors title. Here, he joins forces with fellow resident Darius Syrossian to lay down a two disc mix set that touches on all of his usual inspirations. That means an atmospheric trawl through nuggety darkroom house, tribal flavours and murky tech-house, with additional helpings of basement-baiting New York deepness and European fluidity. In truth, Viva Warriors is arguably more fun and upbeat than many of Lawler's recent mixes, suggesting a new-found love of reaching out for the lasers and hip-wigglin' groovery. Maybe that's Syrossian's influence; either way, it makes for an enjoyable two-disc mix-up.
