Review: Teki Latex's Sound Pellegrino has been flirting with Bass music styles since they tapped up L-Vis 1990 for an EP a few years ago. On their newest release however, they've jumped into the murky bass pool with both feet, enlisting Finnish producer Teeth, responsible for last year's paranoia infused 140bpm terror "Shawty". "Percolator Meme" utilises his trademark sample chopping alongside wooden rhythms and intimidating bass, "Jusqu' tendresse" opts for an eski grime inspired riddim, while "Busy Crack" brings out the druggier side of the producer's oeuvre, with threadbare juke-inspired percussion and sampling barely holding it together. Inspired remixes come from Lazer Sword, who turn in a stop-start robomix of "Percolator Meme", and on-fire producer Kowton, whose raw, sparse interpretation of "Jusqu' tendresse" is our pick of an excellent EP.

Review: 502 Recordings finally drop this one! Teeth is the alias of Finnish producer Matti Pentikainen, who has dabbled in everything from abstract hip-hop as Ceebrolistics to dub techno as Mi Ni Ma. Currently ruling the dubstep scene in Helsinki via the club night Alas his Katusea crew run, "Shawty" is a truly auspicious debut- having caught the ear of Sound Pellegrino boss Teki Latex who quite accurately described it as 'northern light-induced-clap-trap-house'. Distinguished by a sultry female vocal, frosted synths and beat programming that shuffles between dubstep, juke and dirty south hip-hop, "Shawty" is yet another hit for Oneman's fledgling label. Adding yet more reason to indulge is the remix from Falty DL which adds more urgency to proceedings via scattergun 2-step riddims, affected vocals and jagged bass flourishes.
