Review: While still in its infancy, Brighton's Wolf Music Recordings has already become a must-check label for fans of midtempo house and disco. 2010 has been a vintage year for sub-120 BPM house, and Wolf Music has done more than most to showcase this sound. Here, they continue their ongoing quest to slow down the dance with another split EP featuring three essential tracks. The Dead Rose Music Company open proceedings with "Just A Bitter Love", a deliciously strung-out midtempo offering that further blurs the boundaries between disco and house. Wolf stalwart the Francis Inferno Orchestra ups the tempo a little on "Time For Tea", laying down a chugging, dubbed-out deep house groove that's just crying out for late night club play. An excellent package is rounded off by "We Want To Thank Our Friends", an impressively dense work-out from Germany's fast-rising Session Victim. Built around some choice loops and samples, it slowly builds into a bluesy deep house workout that should get hips wiggling and toes tapping on dancefloors that crave good quality house music.

Review: Melbourne artiste Griffin James, known to you as Francis Inferno Orchestra, has enjoyed a healthy dose of attention and praise thanks to his deep and carefully constructed house jams. His mature style is impressive for such a young producer and upon hearing this new EP on Join The Dots, we can only jump aboard the bandwagon. "I Need It" swoons with balmy, seductive chords and drums that tip-tap and crash-bang in all the right places. Rolling delicately through classic and captivating streams of sound via rich melodies and an intricate structure, there's nothing to disappoint. The Nicholas basement remix gets funky with guitar licks and chopped vocals adding a bouncier feel while Fantastic Man's Electronic Boogaloo remix takes the oomph to new levels with a deep, pounding b-line and quickened tempo. Another Francis Inferno Orchestra original can be found in "I Said Yes Sir"; which is characterised by spat vocals and heavy drums and rhythm sections. Recommended.
