Review: An epic 42 track selection here from the legendary Shapeshifters which screams quality from the opening strains of Maya Jane Coles' "Humming Bird" through to the epic conclusion that sees Dennis Ferrer's excellent "Red Room" take centre stage. Review: Duo Simon Marlin and Max Reich have come along way since "Lola's Theme" made them a global phenomenon in house music in 2004. This compilation showcases the best of their Nocturnal Groove imprint, as well as some exclusive remixes of some of their latest smashes. The funky vocal of We Deliver's "Breathe Again" kicks things off, retooled into a classic piano jam by Danny Howells. The 'Shifters recent collaboration with the legendary Frankie Knuckles, "The Ones You Love", follows it up and it's hard to argue that either have been on such good form for ages. House music like this just never goes out of fashion, and the combination of deep bass grooves, sweet soulful vocals and soaring strings is done perfectly here.

Another hook-up with a dance music legend occurs with Candi Staton's "Musical Freedom". Already a huge tune from this year, the "You Got The Love"-referencing club smash gets a mix from The Shapeshifters (cheekily titled the "Big Fish Little Fish" mix). Making a big tune even bigger, they build up to the vocal in stunning fashion before finally releasing the beats.

Other highlights on this compilation include Roy Mclaren's brass-fuelled "Feels So Good", as well as a pair of massive tunes from StereoSoulSystem ? "Gonna Get" and "Trace". Also fans of the vanguard of British house will adore Doman & Gooding's version of 808 State's "Pacific State", which keeps that distinctive alto sax but pumps a new lease of life into the beats and bottom end. With 16 glorious tracks on this superior collection, there?s plenty get your heart pumping and your dancing shoes on!
