Brighton dwellers Maxxi Soundsystem and Thomas Gandey (he of Cagedbaby fame) join forces for a jaunt on Moda Black. "I Don't Care" is the epitome of house in 2012 - all vaguely touchy-feely chords, pitched-down vocal oddness and ket-addled beats straight from the big room rulebook. "Shake Your Head" flips the script, offering a deeper groove and some deliciously tactile melodies (oh, and Gandey doing his best impression of Michael McDonland). Remix-wise, Jaymo & Andy George get out the big bassline and skippy beats on their version of "Shake Your Head", while PBR Streetgang deliver a slick chunk of bespoke house.
Retreating from his Cagedbaby alias for this storming follow-up to 2011's "The Piano Track", Thomas Gandey hits Southern Fried up with another stellar tech-house killer. Rocking deep Korg organ stabs and tight, jacking kicks and snares, Gandey builds and builds in a proggy-yet-funky way, while the excellent Maxxi Soundsystem get even deeper with an 808 clave taking centre stage on their slow and assured recast.
