Review: A longtime devotee of all things funky and house, US producer Trevor Vichas lets the good times roll on this new tune from Phobic Records. Bearing some timeless DJ Sneak-style hats, a languid live bassline and a looped and filtered vocal hook, "Born Into" could melt hearts of stone with its simple jacking swing and sunny melodies. Dutch DJ Tommy Largo lends his skills to a deeper revisit of the tune, while Tom Special Interest puts the soulful vocal loop at the forefront of his mix, gently adding some subtle tremolo to set it off nicely.

Review: Portland's Trevor Vichas keeps his love of deep textured house music alive with this new set of beats for the Funk Mansion label. Title track "House Werks" is truly a nocturnal delight, with subby Detroit chords dominating over a bass-free beat, while "Ms. Understood" uses a simple reverbed guitar motif as the backbone of yet another heartstring-tugger. The flowing jazz-jack of "Musical Bliss" rounds off this sparkling EP.
