DA10 boast a self-proclaimed 'genius' amongst their ranks and are named after 'a mythological piece of hardware with the power to fuse bouncing beats with powerful electronics'; at least the quality of the music lets them away with some of the pretentions. Recorded entirely on vintage hardware, this EP features five cuts that range from the tough beats and bleeps ("Redshift") to mellow synth-funk ("Respirator") via melancholy synthscapes peppered with light DnB percussion ("Out Of Reach Of Earth").

London via North Devon imprint Shifting Peaks are keeping the party pressure on with this bumper-packed EP. It's a label debut from duo De$ignated (Nima Bazrcar and Rory Bowyer) who split their time between London and Hampshire. Having garnered some major hype from a string of remixes, they've managed to secure Kyiki from Crystal Fighters for this, this own single. "Valentine" mixes fuzzy urban funk with old skool 2-step and half time breaks. "Russian Roulette" however is a much harder post-dubstep gurning banger. Best of the remixes is Kaveh's thumping acidic afterhours workout.

This er, young kid (Tom Guerriero-Davies) from Nottingham, is tearing it up with this tune, getting plays on Rinse FM and more. Although he describes his sound as a variant of 2-step, it really doesn't do this tune justice. In fact it's a pretty hard record to categorise, other than it's a brilliant slice of haunting future tropical in which Della just rinses all the sounds, samples and riffs at his disposal to sound like, well, nothing else around. Remix-wise we also get quirky garage from Nomi and some seriously haunted house courtesy of AtsuBox.

Helsinki's Desto has been releasing tunes for coming up to 10 years, but we've never had a long player from him...until now that is. "Emptier Streets" features 12 tracks that mine an evocative slow motion field. Highlights include the gentle, synth swathed "Dislocated", the Salem-esque dark trap of the title track, the beatless and cinematic "Drainpipe" and the sublime closer "Healing".

Review:
Meanwhile back in Bristol, DJ Die teams up with singer Jenna G to pay tribute to classic soul. On the surface "1000 Soul Singers" initially comes across a well-executed slice of radio-friendly soul-pop: all caramel vocals, retro strings and clean, quantized beats. Of course this being a Gutterfunk release, the formula is given a twist with the addition of some accelerate DnB beats in the chorus. Remix-wise we get deep, choppy hip-hop (Addison Groove), tribal house (Jus Now) and hypey footwork-tinged DnB (Break).

Untitled is the debut album of Different Marks, the tantalising combination of Polish duo Catz n Dogz and Martin Dawson of Two Armadillos fame, finished shortly before Dawson's sad and untimely death last year. Those familiar with Catz n Dogz' bright, bumpy house sound will be right at home here, with an album filled with catchy hooks, swung rhythms, R&B influences, subtle low end and astonishing vocal contributions from the likes of Cari Golden, Ben Westbeech and Glimpse. Best of all, it's absolutely free!

Review:
Having produced countless records over the last ten years, former jazzy Tuscan club saxophonist Cristiano Crisci (aka Digi G'Alessio) has finally cracked the big time. This, his second release for Lucky Beard, continues his newfound African inspiration and has lead to support from the likes of Diplo, Brodinski and Sinden. "Trwick" is a mass of cut up tribal loops with both flute and bass in abundance. Elsewhere "Addis Abeba" is all trippy crickets and bongo night beats, which is taken to the next level on "Black Therapy". Finally "Ivory" speeds things up and ends on a frenetic high.

Review:
Bringing further evolution in the realm of footwork, one of the scene's heavy hitters DJ Earl drops this self-assured EP which lets a little heart and soul into the manic machinations of his chosen discipline. Opening track "I Feel It" embraces full-bodied vocals and warm melodies, while "I Need You" gets deep into a Rhodes refrain, all the while twitching away at the heightened BPMs of classic footwork. "Alive N' Well" goes as far as to reach for some chunky Detroit chords, while "Ambienttt" somewhat ironically represents the feistiest cut on the release with a more head-nagging refrain that seems more in line with classic Chicago juking.
