Review: Having made his debut on Prime Numbers earlier this year with his titular contribution to a split release alongside Truss and Massimo De Lena, Adesse is granted a full release with this all killer no filler Untitled Love EP. For someone who came to the fore with a version of Theo Parrish's "Sky Walking, it's unsurprising that the title track here has a rugged charm reminiscent of the outspoken Sound Signature boss - it's all about that thumping snare son! Meanwhile "Supernal" veers into deep steppers territory and contains some ingenious looping of a Laurie Anderson standard, whilst "Metachemistry" highlights Adesse's talent for loose, freeform arrangements.

Review: Alex Barck has achieved a lot over the last two decades - pioneering nu-jazz blends with Jazzanova, helping set up Sonar Kollektiv, a fine album with Christian Prommer - but he's not released many solo records. In fact, his debut solo album, Reunion, is due later in the year. This taster gives a glimpse as to what to expect, a dewy-eyed blend of electronic soul, bruk-influenced deep house and unbridled positivity. The EP's two original tracks are predictably sublime, with Pete Josef collaboration "Re-Set" - an exercise in effortlessly soulful, heavily electronic deep house - just edging out the more obviously anthemic Jonathan Backelie hook-up "Don't Hold Back". Elsewhere, Marlow's deep acid rework of "Re-Set" is also superb.

Review: If you judge a producer by their ability to successfully apply a winning formula to a variety of styles, Alix Perez is a master. While drum and bass remains his forte, there's enough on Chroma Chords, his second album, to suggest that he's growing as a producer. This EP discards with the synth-laden head nodders featured on the full album, though the four tracks here do still demonstrate the versatile nature of Chroma Chords. Thus the grimy hip hop of the Metropolis featuring "Blue Print" shares space with the soulful stepping action of "Playing Games" whilst the the excellent vintage Timbaaland does halfstep of "Shadows" (featuring breakout Eglo talent Strange U") joins up with the vicious "Burnout".

Review: For his latest signing, Gilles Peterson looks closer to home - Brighton to be precise - where he found the Anushka duo of Max Wheeler & Victoria Port. Not particularly exotic, but the music, which they describe as 'bass music from the future', covers that requirement. Theirs is a blend of deep bass, glistening synths and breaky urban beats flavoured with digital riddims ("Wired"), deep tropical ("Yes Guess") and soulful house ("I Have Love 4 You"). Definitely going places.

Review: Bristol's champion of full-bodied and immaculately produced dubstep business brings more of his plush melodics to bear on the Halocyan imprint after sterling turns for the likes of Apple Pips. "Addict" is a prime example of his style, fusing crisp, sugarsnap garage drums with thick swathes of synths that dart and parry around each other with grace and skill. Komon steps up on the remix tip with a simple fashioning of the track into a chunky house groove that retains the essence of the original. "23 Summers" takes a more laidback approach to the steppiness, slinging R&B samples around in a delirous and boogie-inflected haze, while "Iron Oxide" plunges into a more rolling breakbeat flavour shot through with a healthy dose of melancholia. Finally, October gets jacking on a remix of "23 Summers" that piles on metallic percussion and bubbling acid in a linear and psyched out fashion that's as much industrial as it is techno.

Review: Pelican Fly teams up with the infamous Ed Banger institution to deliver a tight little remix package of Cahmere Cat's "Mirror Maru" EP! Only "Mirror Maru" and "Kiss Kiss" are chosen as part of the project but judging from the diversity of the remixing team, this can only mean one thing: DOPE! Review: Jay 'Chubba' Richards has been popping up all over the place of late, with recent releases on Sirch and Odea Records. Here, he brings his particular brand of contemporary house and UK funky fusion to Republic. "Moody" - so-called because it features a prominent sample from Kenny Dixon Jnr talking about his MPC - sets the tone, layering tough electronic percussion over a monstrous bassline. "Diamonds" sounds like a fusion of classic UKG and '90s house, while "Broken" feels like the sort of thing that Hypercolour should be signing (think nice chords, tasty vocal stabs and bassline-driven deep house flavour). There's also a tougher, UK funky-flavoured tweak from Vedicis and Vanshift that's well worth a listen.

Review: This is Damn Kids second release for Drop The Lime's Trouble & Bass imprint, so they must be doing something right! It's a label debut from duo De$ignated (Nima Bazrcar and Rory Bowyer) who split their time between London and Hampshire. Review: It's bashment o'clock round Decibel towers judging by the sound of his new bomb, and the currently on fire Newcastle producer doesn't appear to be mellowing any time soon. Review: Having produced countless records over the last ten years, former jazzy Tuscan club saxophonist Cristiano Crisci (aka Digi G'Alessio) has finally cracked the big time. This, his second release for Lucky Beard, continues his newfound African inspiration and has lead to support from the likes of Diplo, Brodinski and Sinden. "Trwick" is a mass of cut up tribal loops with both flute and bass in abundance. Elsewhere "Addis Abeba" is all trippy crickets and bongo night beats, which is taken to the next level on "Black Therapy". Finally "Ivory" speeds things up and ends on a frenetic high.

Review: The chart-bothering Surrey siblings Disclosure are back with possibly their best offering yet. Released on the Hot Chip-affiliated Greco-Roman label, "Control" is a superb slice of sultry and soulful minimal garage, with short of breath vocals that echo vintage Janet Jackson. Joe Goddard seriously challenges the glory of the original with a mesmerising doomy, acid-tinged electro-disco version. Bonus tune "Lividup" is an ecstatic bleep-garage joy and there's further fun with "Boiling" being given cosmic trance (Dixon) and mega camp house (Medlar) workovers. Plus "Whats In Your Head" gets a boombox house mix by Mak & Pasteman.

Review: Continuing his adventures into rough and ready hyper-modern rave business spinning off of the bass music zeitgeist, Distal comes bowling up to Lucky Beard with this rowdy selection of party smashers. "Hard House Cheer Squad" brings in all manner of dutty ass wiggling tropes, from trap drums to jungle breaks, while the melodies peal out in technicolour tones and the vocals come hopping in from all angles. "Diamond Leather Shock" is a more heads down affair that pushes the musicality to one side and focuses on intense drum programming and sample triggering in a frenzied attack on the senses. Bringing a different vibe altogether, "Chucky Saturn" strips everything back and focuses on a more ambient tone with just a smattering of the usual Distal drums, synths and samples compared to the normal overload.

Review: Underground garage upstart DJ Blakey - sadly not a big fan of the infamous character from 'On The Buses', as far as we know - returns to spiritual home Slime with a decidedly summery chunk of deep garage. Those who like their 4/4 garage a little more subdued will enjoy its loose and fluid mix of skippy beats, bold melodies, atmospheric chords and Todd Edwards-inspired vocal cut-ups. Given the ubiquity of sillier garage-influenced jams at present, it makes a refreshing change from the norm. The obligatory remix comes from D&B type Basher, whose raw junglist onslaught - all warped bass, scattergun beats and old skool flava - is in stark contrast to the comfy original.

Review: Bringing further evolution in the realm of footwork, one of the scene's heavy hitters DJ Earl drops this self-assured EP which lets a little heart and soul into the manic machinations of his chosen discipline. Opening track "I Feel It" embraces full-bodied vocals and warm melodies, while "I Need You" gets deep into a Rhodes refrain, all the while twitching away at the heightened BPMs of classic footwork. "Alive N' Well" goes as far as to reach for some chunky Detroit chords, while "Ambienttt" somewhat ironically represents the feistiest cut on the release with a more head-nagging refrain that seems more in line with classic Chicago juking.
