Review:
Reboot! Having set out his eclectic urban funk stall with confidence earlier this year, Johnny's commissioned a series of far-reaching rubs to complement his work. Showing serious potential from the very first rub (the Django Django sampled take on "The Prowler"), it's a hefty package that even includes some very handy DJ tools. Highlights include Mo Matic's staccato, chop'n'shot funk rub of "Maggy Doyles" and AKA's ripsnorting D&B take on "Never Get Old".

Review:
London nu-funk imprint Boogie Boutique come correct once again on the Shake It Out EP which pairs up French producer Prosper with a number of collaborators. The title track has Prosper going toe to toe with Knaresborough's finest Rory Hoy on a funk heavy cut n paste production blessed with the J-Live style delivery of Imagine This - German trio Funkanomics handle remix duties and turn in one of their trademark electrified productions that still makes ample usage of Imagine This' delivery. Following this, the superbly titled Old Skool Nemo proves his studio worth alongside Prosper on the boogie number "Get That Boogie Thing" whose speed of sound is matched by swiftness of vocal delivery from JC001 and the man Ashley Slater. Nick Fonkynson drops a remix that begs for a big beat revolution.

Review:
Taking Asaf Avidan's emotional exercise in modern day folk and giving it the regal reboot it deserves, Pure SX and Mutant Breakz ensure Hot Cakes' reputation as 'king of bass bootlegs' remains intact with this blistering breakbeat version of "One Day". One sawtooth bassline sizzles over a more elongated distorted low-end lick while the beats swagger and the guitars loop gently in the background. Building gradually, the vocal doesn't really take full presence until the breakdown, causing serious dancefloor meltdown in the process.
