Review: Flip the switch and get with the program: evergreen party purveyors Breakbeat Paradise have commissioned a whole bunch of reversions and each one is an instant booty-buster. Highlights abound throughout this raucous bass-bizzled nu-funk adventure but only a twit wouldn't pack Badboe's rub of Kool Hertz En Vouge sampling sizzle-up "Whatta Joint", JiggyJoe's orchestral disco-strung halfstepper rub of Calagad 13's "Back To The Power" or Badboe's take on Rudd's Supremes-slicing "Shake It Out". Paradise found.

Review: Is it just us or are Basement Freaks albums getting funkier and funkier? As hinted with their Soul Digga EP last winter, the trio just keep getting more organic and authentic, this being their most engaging, juiciest funk LP to date. From the Alabama 3 meets the Daptones style "Gimme More" to the insanely authentic Parliament skit "Disco Boy" via the mild skank bounce, organ noodling and Troutman crooning on "Red Light Streets", this really is party dynamite. Basement Freaks are ruling the nu-funk scene right now.

Review: Welcome to the mid-2000s. A few years before Jalapeno took him on and developed him into the nu-funk guru he is today, but after he'd scored international kudos by syncing to an Apple advert "Channel Surfing", Featurecast was one of the biggest bootleg barons on the scene. 21st century big-beat and turbo-hip-hop, Goodgroove released some of the cheekiest sample-heavy tunes of his early career. And here they are in all their remastered glory. Highlights include the Wild Cherry sampling bootie shaker "Funky White Brother" and the Vandross-DMX love-in "Get It On The Floor". If you weren't around the first time, now's your chance to catch up.

Review: Booty Fruit's DJ Maars joins forces with newcomer Tom Showtime for some seriously delicious sound mash-ups for this latest EP. "Heatwave Episode" is a funked-out re-edit of Dr.Dre's and Snoop Dogg's infamous "The Next Episode", whilst "Hungry Busta" puts a real dancehall vibe over Busta Rhyme's inimitable vocal machine-gun bursts. "Rocksteady Up" re-fixes yet another early 2000's hip hop gem "Ante-Up", and "Champion Steez" goes all breakbeat/ska mode, introducing some rather rapacious Jamaican lyrics over that booty-shaking groove.

Review: Billed as 2013's biggest collection of reggae-fuelled party tracks, this madcap collaboration between New York's own reggae star Tuffist and newcomers Soul Rebel, DJ Tzinas and Bluntskull whips up new creations from some of reggae's finest tracks. From Toots and the Maytals to The Ethiopians, Soul Rebel, DJ Tzinas and Hammond Classics work together to bring a new flava, while Tuffist's jungle vibes and Bluntskull's breakbeat hype provide fresh new sounds to get the party skanking. Don't underestimate the power of reggae to get floors filled across the country, this series confronts non-dancers and shuns bad feelings. Embrace the party jams!

Review: With all the amazing dubstep and D&B coming from the city, you could be fooled into thinking bass is Bristol's only fashion. Well it's not; there's also a thriving nu funk scene, and each of the four cats on this generous EP are leading the charge. The Allergies lay down an authentic Dap Kings style vibe on, Parker drops the tempo for a slow, sludgy and remarkably sexy bass bust-up, Mr 50 pays homage to one of the sweetest chocolates on the planet by way of shivering 8-bit bleepery, swampy bass and nifty accordion squeezes and Frenic completes the set with a crisp, dramatic ode to the big beat glory days. Call the fashion police, this shizzle is hot!

Review: Spinforth's quest for freshness continues as he follows up the debut December Scour dispatch with another generous selection of chunky-jacksy bass joints. With gnarly fingers probing every party pie, across the collection we're treated to dubstep-meets-classic-Brooklyn ("Time To Rock"), 23rd century electro wobbles ("Boss DAT!") and VERY cheeky Cypress Hill booty business ("Insane Brains"... obviously!) And that's only three examples. Get Scouring.

Review: London nu-funk imprint Boogie Boutique come correct once again on the Shake It Out EP which pairs up French producer Prosper with a number of collaborators. The title track has Prosper going toe to toe with Knaresborough's finest Rory Hoy on a funk heavy cut n paste production blessed with the J-Live style delivery of Imagine This - German trio Funkanomics handle remix duties and turn in one of their trademark electrified productions that still makes ample usage of Imagine This' delivery. Following this, the superbly titled Old Skool Nemo proves his studio worth alongside Prosper on the boogie number "Get That Boogie Thing" whose speed of sound is matched by swiftness of vocal delivery from JC001 and the man Ashley Slater. Nick Fonkynson drops a remix that begs for a big beat revolution.

Review: Bang! There'd been hushed tones of this opus for well over a year, and at a whopping 29 tracks, it's been well worth the wait. Showcasing their widest repertoire, within the first trio of tracks we're already treated to Latino swing breaks, new jungle jiggery and dramatic dubstep. This wide-eared vibe embracement runs throughout consistently; "Hey Mr DJ" rattles a few electro-hop cages, "Countdown" is quintessential booty-bass heaven complete with delectable UK hip-hop rhymage, while "You Can Be My Night" shoots us up to planet D&B on a floaty carpet of rave heritage. A solid calling card to every party in town, it's time to get bouncing...

Review: Big-assed bootleg business from the Actual Sounds crew... Big Bang Breaks revisits Public Enemy on "Bring Your Whistle" and Derrick May on "Swings Of Life". Meanwhile Funk You Very Much mixes up Randy Newman with Biggie Smalls on "Leaving Cali", gives The Doors a slap with glove of glitches on "Break The Doors" and gets jiggy on a two-step vibe with "Bop A Lot". Elsewhere we find Funky Wah Wah fusing Too Short's "Blow The Whistle" with a reggae version of Marvin Gaye on "Blow It Shorty". Hit 'em up... Then knock 'em down!

Review: Doctor P and Flux Pavilion hand over the selection duties to familiar label faces Funtcase and Cookie Monsta for the second Circus set. A 25-strong banger compendium balanced between classics and exclusives, it oozes the perfect blend of bare-faced bass attitude and tongue-in-cheek humour. From Roksonix string-soaked jig jamboree "Music In Me" to Brown & Gammon's emotional audio rainbow "Dark Matter", the Circus sound is represented at its boldest, most characterful and, above all, fun. Not a dull moment in sight - check this and remember why we all got into dubstep in the first place.

Review: We've been waiting a LONG time for this one! Miguel Mantovani, Archerio Mantovani and Kengo San have been teasing and pleasing with their tongue-in-cheek funk on wax and on stage for years... We always knew when an album drops it would be big. And just look at the line-up - Kurtis Blow, Abdominal, Mica Paris, Tenor Fly, Omar, KT Tunstall are all collaborating across this 15 track funk explosion. With licks from James Brown endorsed CBs band and the perfect balance of tight riddims and humour, "Yo Bonita" rocks in every sense. Essential.

Review: Presenting another collection of the best nu-funk and ghetto breaks from the Breakbeat Paradise label, volume 2 of Paradise Breaks contains a killer selection of hip-hop, funk and bass work from artists at the top of their field such as Badboe, Morlack, Breakbeat Junkie and Jazz K Lipa. Among the 15 tracks, look out for Pimpsoul's low-slung remix of Badboe's "One of Those Days" and the re-energised Southern soul of Jiggy Joe and Prosper's "Sweet Home Smoke".

Review: The tenth release from the Manmade staple sees their crew of excellent NuFunk producers and remixers eager to please, with CMC & Silenta dropping a very tasteful edit of Mariam Makeba's classic calypso-funk gem "Pata Pata", Badboe & Prosper giving the Wu Tang a radical funk overhaul, while Cat Nip Tuck slams in the classics on the schizo-boogie of "Cat Nip Tuck".

Review: It's a meeting of minds on this long player with rootsy German label Root Down releasing this much-anticipated album from Korean-German 'future dancehall' act Symbiz Sound. There's plenty of tunes, 15 in total here, many of which featuring either the talents of ZHI MC or Feral Is Kinky. Highlights include the sweet sounding lovers rock of opener "Soundboy Dead", the bassy, ghetto-hop of "Ruff Ride", the digital dancehall of "Down Under" and the sheer tribalism of "Bad So".

Review: Four volumes in seven months... Actual Sounds are ruthlessly efficient when it comes to showering the scene with fresh booty-shaking bootlegs. And it's business as usual as we're thrown around by the limbs to a 28-track strong selection of wide-eared funk fusions that range from an uptempo breakbeat cut n' shut of Nina Simone ("Ooh Baby") to Brooklyn era block busters ("Down With The King") via classic rave-meets-early house mashery ("A Bigbeat Treat"). A bargain and banging - these booties are keepers.
