Review:
Aussie nu-funker Yum Cha delivers a no-nonsense EP and the title says it all. Each of this trio bangs with party hardy spirit and features myriad turbo-toasted ragga vocals. Perfectly timed for the summer (and beyond), highlights include the cameo role of M.O.P on "Crazy Ina Boom Boom", some clever use of a James Brown sample of "Dump De Funk" and the cool combo of Cutty Ranks and Beats International on "Crazy Ina Boom Boom".

Review:
Tru Funk / Funkosol's most dynamic duo return with two solo workouts that tickle the party's funkiest quarters. "That's That" takes the lead with a series of wild synth squiggles, heaving horns and a lolloping slap-bass riff. "Won't Stop Trying", meanwhile, springs back and forth with a cool cut-up vocal sample, tight beats and nifty tape stops. Both absolutely kill it.

Review:
Once again Honkey Phonk's label boss Jayl Funk takes a backseat to let his roster shine, this time on a split-single. First up in Berlin-dwelling Voodoocuts, with a pulsating slice of brass and bass duelling, classic funk. On the proverbial flip is Morlack with a killer 'Bootsy goes hip-hop' electro-boogie workout.

Review:
Flip the switch and get with the program: evergreen party purveyors Breakbeat Paradise have commissioned a whole bunch of reversions and each one is an instant booty-buster. Highlights abound throughout this raucous bass-bizzled nu-funk adventure but only a twit wouldn't pack Badboe's rub of Kool Hertz En Vouge sampling sizzle-up "Whatta Joint", JiggyJoe's orchestral disco-strung halfstepper rub of Calagad 13's "Back To The Power" or Badboe's take on Rudd's Supremes-slicing "Shake It Out". Paradise found.

Review:
Aquasky have always known how to pull off a great compilation and after fifteen years of bass-thrashing and break-sampling, they're finally back with an extensive collection of their own recent works, but also a healthy mixture of some of the gnarliest breakbeat producers on the scene. Although the group are synonymous with the drum & bass scene, their present concoctions of half-step-electro hybrids are truly powerful on the floor, such as the rolling squelches of "Make It Rain" featuring Sporty-O or the sci-fi harmonics of "Here To Eternity". The compilation is a painstakingly neat portrait of the current breakbeat setting and leans heavily towards its cutting-edge, most vividly on tracks like 601's "Strobelight", "War is Ugly" by RADIOKILLAZ and long-standing legend Ronnie Pilgrem's "One By One" - a head-nodding, stop-start motion jungle reminiscent bombshell. But these are just some of our own personal picks, so go ahead and explore this leviathan of a compilation for yourself - if you dig breaks, look nowhere else!

Review:
Flying the nu-funk flag loudly and proudly, Polish imprint Tru Funk hit number six in their highly collectable bootleg and bass jam series. It's instantly business as usual as we hit Cez14 and Dastardly Kuts' Supremes/David Morales blend "Keep Me Hanging". Elsewhere we find DJ Czech taking Jay Ski and the Quad City DJs and giving them a sexy low-swung bass treatment on "Sky Train". We see Lebroski & Delimentary taking lead from Afrojack with a classic b-boy sample and showing him how it's done properly. Morlack, however, steals the show with a fine rendition of De La Soul and Chaka Khan's "All Good".
