Review:
Evoking the sounds of Brazilian music - both pre and post bossa nova - German label ChinChin collect some of the most swinging samba and Latin jazz beats on their books from a variety of producers. Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra's version of Quincy Jones' "Soul Bossa Nova" is a real gem, reducing the over-egged original into a smooth, live-sounding jazz-fest, while Tape Five's version of "Tequila" is equally unexpected and equally fun.

Review:
A terrific collection from Italian label Terra Mia Music which mixes traditional jazz styles and instrumentation (such as The Staple Quartet's bopping "The Nurse Night") with more funky, synthed-out styles like the soulful house hybrid "A Brand New Day" by Hub Project. This is at heart though a blissful and very chilled album that at the same time thankfully doesn't skimp on the thrills - most notably Fiorindo Ricciuti's amazingly abstract guitar skills on the excellent "Martin Guitar".
