Review:
Berlin producer Suff Daddy drops a very confident set of hip-hop gems on this latest album for German label Melting Pot. From the scratch 'n' cut joy of opener "Kill Bill" to smooth ATCQ-reminding tunes like the Miles Bonny-vocalled "Late Night Stuff", Daddy keeps listeners hooked with a pool of joyous blitzed samples. Be sure to check the surf-twang of "Gin City" and the sloping Henry Mancini-esque "Plastic Dub" too!

Review:
Spanish DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mr Gagun makes his debut for Timewarp with an album bristling with horn-heavy groovery. Gagun's sound is heavily steeped in funk and soul, but also takes in hip-hop, jazz, swing, R&B, dub, ghetto-funk and the low-end pulse of contemporary bass music. It makes for a breezy, soulful set, similar in ethos (if not style) to much of the output of Brighton's Tru Thoughts label. There are plenty of floor-filling moments to enjoy, from the hectic jazz-dance beats of "Funky Dog" and the gorgeous Latin strut of "Mi Sello", to the expansive soul of "Giro Con La Vida" and horn-heavy breaks of "Set You Off".

Review:
Following on from the success of his recent Timewarp debut 11:11, the Athens-based, funk-obsessed label has now decided to release a selection of the Spanish producer's best cuts in remixed form. There's three mixes of "Funky Dog" here, the best being Afternoons In Stereo's pumping sleazy disco take and Apedroid's blissed out Ibiza sunset mix. Quincy Jointz reworks "Cinderella Girl" as a tight, electronic funk workout with Balearic overtones. "Wait" gets a raw going over from Dan Wilde, complete with edgy electro-bassline, while Mr Chombee opts for a poppier, boogie-ish version. However, with its hybrid of Spanish guitar, throbbing bass and bonkers flute, the Freethinker Funk Essence mix of "Mi Sello" is one of the standout tracks of this release.

Review:
Experimental bass jazz from Spanish producer Guillamino on this new EP from the Bankrobber label, with the beautifully chaotic sequences of "Cough Cough Sneeze", the Oizo-like bass stabs of "Dirty Meridiana", the slo-mo and hypnotic "Cap De Romans" and the minimal crunch and tempo sways of "Yo Yo Yo Bonanit" making for a truly engaging and refreshingly original collection of songs.

Review:
Founded in 1995, Planet Mu has gone on to become a force in electronic music, setting the benchmark high and releasing some of the scene's seminal and groundbreaking artists. Blending house, techno, dubstep, hip-hop and all the grey areas in between that have come to dominate the sonic landscape of recent years, Planet Mu have never been afraid to depart from the status quo. Marking the first release of 2011 for Mike Paradinas' lauded label, 14 Tracks From Planet Mu collates tracks from some of the new artists to have graced the Mu airwaves over the past year. There are four exclusives in there, for those that like it hot off the press, and some familiar names like Oriol, Solar Bears, Floating Points, FaltyDL, Ikonika and Boxcutter. Superb stuff.
