Nu-soul Irishman Colm K is back in business with some more of his classy and classic sounding jams. Things begin with him making the impossible sound possible: "The Attic" making 80s wine bar funk sound cool. Elsewhere he's on a deeper, less showy tip: "Nothing" being a hazy 90s memory on loop, "Good Fridays" add a bit of shuffle and swing to the formula, and finally "Spaced" incorporates a vintage RnB vibe to his already impressive repertoire.

Little is known about this shady producer, but a lot is known about Irma, particularly their knack of unearthing killer sounds, usually for classic comps. Here though we have ten original tracks by D'andy that all follow a laid-back trip-hop/broken beat-ish direction. "Smoking Room" is all deep beats, jazzy trumpets and soulful vocals, elsewhere "Bembe" is soft jazz-funk over a samba beat and "Moltosugo" even veers into acid jazz territory.

South Londoner Alex Lloyd is back with his third single for Ninja Tune, and he's got a new sound to boot! Rumours that his new mournful direction are inspired by running out of skins when there's no 24 hour garage in sight, haven't been confirmed, but it's clear he's in a contemplative mood. "Skinless Pt 1" sees Sigur Ros style vocals wail over some widescreen electronica, the second part of which also incorporates a menacing electro squall and skippy beats. "Heartbeats" displays some heart-wrenching cello work and "An Exit" also achieves the same effect via some gracefully melancholic piano chords.

Not to be confused with Klakson's electro-hero of the same name, this Dexter is an acclaimed 26 year-old producer with more of an interest in the jazzy side of things. A teaser for forthcoming album, "The Trip", "Pictures" reveals the producer's newfound 'psychedelic hip-hop' direction. It's a fusion that works extremely well especially in non-album tracks "Church" (West Coat 60s harmony rock) and "Shroom Travels" (disorientated hippy-hop).

Having recently grabbed our attention with lead single "Pictures", this 26 year old producer now unveils his self-proclaimed 'psychedelic hip-hop' album aptly titled "The Trip". Aside from the single, there's a further 17 tracks on here brimming with strange sounds and ideas, from the Public Enemy-sampling "Once Again Back (Tune In)" to crackling 60s piano clips with hip-hop beats ("Psychedelic Club Scene") and the stoner DJ Shadow-isms of "Dexy Lovecraft" via hammonds and big beat ("Clouds of Zero"). Far out man!

At last DJ Day and Miles Bonny's 2009 EP of Raphael Saadiq covers, "Instant Saadiq', is available in digital form. Featuring two tunes, this sees the collaborators pay homage to the RnB veteran in a way that still sounds fresh four years later. "Still Miles" is smooth and romantic with a smooth vocal and particularly squelchy synth, the same one which later duels with a trippy trumpet on the floaty "What's Life Like".

A special dedication to his formative days praying at the good church of hip-hop, cutting and pasting in Sunday school, Venice Beach member Moar gets down and does the caterpillar. An eclectic ensemble of loops and compositions, this lick shots from Senor Coconut to Bambaataa and back again with its frenetic arrangement of swinging drums, cheeky samples and crafty editing. Highlights include the bongo and fuzz box fusion of "2 vs 2" and low-swung bass shuffle and swing of "Bump On". Moar please!

DN3 are the very promising trio, Guido Nemola, Caesar Dell'Anna and Mauro Three, who combine classic jazz sounds with contemporary electronica. Beginning with the deep and housey "Channel 3", the album encounters noir-ish smoky nightclub trumpets ("Miss Cat"), shimmering piano led pieces ("Silence") and even electro-funk ("Mojo Drums"). An impressive long player!

Review:
The non-stop I! Records reissue schedule is in full flow and their latest offering is a 'best of' comp of late 90s chill-out act, Euphonic 7. Fronted by Kevin Yost and often minus the '7', they notched up a bunch of respectable club tunes; some are featured here, including the flute-heavy easy listening of "Then Came U", the saxy xylophone house of "Set Me Free" and the swaggeringly seductive "Wish You Were Here".

Review:
Following the success of his Vanish EP, Matt Brewer aka Frameworks returns again on his new home First Word Records. In a slight move away from the jazzier stuff he's known for, "Old Friend", opts for a more widescreen Americana style with help from collaborator JP Cooper. "Fireworks" is more familiar with jazzy blue-sky trumpets and rolling drums, while Kathryn DeBoer adds a more feminine touch with her layered vocals over the gentle guitar plucks and cellos of "Breaks My Heart". Lastly "Patience" winds things down as a laidback mood piece.
