Review:
If the recent Great Gatsby movie hasn't satiated your appetite for 1920s decadence, then this release is for you! Alice Francis is a French based artist in love with this decade and in particular, her idol Josephine Baker. The original "Gangsterlove", with its pizzicato fiddle and banjo, evokes the sprit of that age whilst her rap takes things into the 21st century. Here there are seven remixes that touch on perky electro-swing (Shiny Mob), acoustic beats (Sound Nomaden), Euro-house (Jamie Berry) and even noisey electro (3asy-K).

Banks is an aspiring female singer hailing from Los Angeles. She's very trusting, offering her phone number on Facebook as 'social media has never been my thing". We reckon that number won't be online for long as judging by the tune, she is surely is destined for big things. Someone who did phone that number is acclaimed British producer Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs who has produced this dreamy and almost beatless example of hipster RnB (PBRnB anyone?) at it's finest.

Review:
Nu-soul Irishman Colm K is back in business with some more of his classy and classic sounding jams. Things begin with him making the impossible sound possible: "The Attic" making 80s wine bar funk sound cool. Elsewhere he's on a deeper, less showy tip: "Nothing" being a hazy 90s memory on loop, "Good Fridays" add a bit of shuffle and swing to the formula, and finally "Spaced" incorporates a vintage RnB vibe to his already impressive repertoire.

Review:
DN3 are the very promising trio, Guido Nemola, Caesar Dell'Anna and Mauro Three, who combine classic jazz sounds with contemporary electronica. Beginning with the deep and housey "Channel 3", the album encounters noir-ish smoky nightclub trumpets ("Miss Cat"), shimmering piano led pieces ("Silence") and even electro-funk ("Mojo Drums"). An impressive long player!

Review:
Following the success of his Vanish EP, Matt Brewer aka Frameworks returns again on his new home First Word Records. In a slight move away from the jazzier stuff he's known for, "Old Friend", opts for a more widescreen Americana style with help from collaborator JP Cooper. "Fireworks" is more familiar with jazzy blue-sky trumpets and rolling drums, while Kathryn DeBoer adds a more feminine touch with her layered vocals over the gentle guitar plucks and cellos of "Breaks My Heart". Lastly "Patience" winds things down as a laidback mood piece.

Review:
Big brassy vintage soul samples, sci-fi movie clips and big bloc party beats, we're deep into the 90s right? Wrong! This is vintage hip-hop 2013 style. This album is the side project of Matthew Brewer (aka Frameworks), who has collaborated with Canadian MC Blu Rum 13 (aka One Self) for a refreshingly unmaterialistic long player that heralds a return to rap's daisy age. Forget the bling and just concentrate on the good times!
