Review:
If the recent Great Gatsby movie hasn't satiated your appetite for 1920s decadence, then this release is for you! Alice Francis is a French based artist in love with this decade and in particular, her idol Josephine Baker. The original "Gangsterlove", with its pizzicato fiddle and banjo, evokes the sprit of that age whilst her rap takes things into the 21st century. Here there are seven remixes that touch on perky electro-swing (Shiny Mob), acoustic beats (Sound Nomaden), Euro-house (Jamie Berry) and even noisey electro (3asy-K).

Review:
DN3 are the very promising trio, Guido Nemola, Caesar Dell'Anna and Mauro Three, who combine classic jazz sounds with contemporary electronica. Beginning with the deep and housey "Channel 3", the album encounters noir-ish smoky nightclub trumpets ("Miss Cat"), shimmering piano led pieces ("Silence") and even electro-funk ("Mojo Drums"). An impressive long player!

Review:
Big brassy vintage soul samples, sci-fi movie clips and big bloc party beats, we're deep into the 90s right? Wrong! This is vintage hip-hop 2013 style. This album is the side project of Matthew Brewer (aka Frameworks), who has collaborated with Canadian MC Blu Rum 13 (aka One Self) for a refreshingly unmaterialistic long player that heralds a return to rap's daisy age. Forget the bling and just concentrate on the good times!

Milanese Schema label boss and all-round legend Gerardo Frisina teams up here with pal DJ Skizo to deliver a little two-track stop-gap release. "Voices Of The Jungle" has that familiar exotica vibe to it - all seductive piano chords and percussive breaks. Meanwhile "Orient" features a housier backing and trumpet solos aplenty.

Review:
Theo Parrish and Tony Allen together on a record? What a combo! Fusing the souls of Detroit and Laos, the unlikely but neatly fitting duo has created two absolutely beautiful soul workouts here. "Day Like This" is a staccato soul roller with emphatic swooping drums, sultry washed-out vocals and big warm organs. "Feel Loved" is a jazzier, more upbeat affair. Again the drums sit at the very forefront of the mix while the rest of the rich, warm instrumentation fits in around them in a soft, dreamy state. The debut release on Theo's new Wildheart label, expect more goodies like this very very soon.

Following the success of the first Shake-A-Leg club-night compilation a couple of years ago, Perfect Toy now unveil the equally enjoyable follow-up. Run by vinyl junkies Tobias Kirmayer and Jerker Kluge, their Munich club night is all about fusing rare Afrobeat, funk, jazz and soulful hip-hop (as professed on their matching t-shirts!). Highlights include killer cuts by a disparate range of artists including Mighty Mocambos and Afrika Bambaataa, Fanga and even Jacknife Lee!
