MR BRISTOW
MR BRISTOW'S FUNKY BREAKS CHART
Mr Bristow has been DJ-ing for over 12 years, playing a wide range of music genres including hip hop, house, breaks, drum and bass, funk, reggae, pop & soul. Mr Bristow reached the regional finals of the Daily Telegraph's Juice DJ competition twice (2001 & 2002) whilst studying for a Music Technology degree at the University of Hertfordshire, where he gained a 2:1 Bsc Hons. He also held residencies at the Student Union and hosted a weekly radio show with one half of established breaks act ‘Diverted’. From Oct 2005 - July 2008, he was a resident at Backdrop – a drum & bass & breaks night held at Brixton Jamm & The Telegraph. Here, he performed alongside the likes of Foreign Beggarz, Pendulum, Shy FX, Bad Company, Fabio, Shut Up & Dance, Mr Thing and many others. He is the Head DJ Tutor at Point Blank Music College in Hoxton where he teaches DJ skills and music production. In his role at Point Blank, he has taught at events including ‘The Princes Trust Urban Music Festival’ and the ‘Activ8 festival’, Hyde Park. He has taught Dj skills to several celebrities, including Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale. Mr Bristow has held residencies at the The Vinyl Touch (winner of ‘best small club event’ at the 2008 Breaks Poll Awards) - alongside nu-skool breaks veterans Ed 209, Dr S Gachet, Swifty B & Ellis Dee, and also No Rest For The Wicked, a live drum & bass / breaks night held at the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel. In June 2009, Mr Bristow & Swifty.B featured on Eddy Temple Morris’s XFM show, The Remix, where they treated listeners to their unique blend of mash up mayhem. The pair were also clear winners of a national DJ competition on dontstayin.com, resulting in them playing a storming set at Dance Island festival in Cambridge the same month. The pair were also placed in the top 10 of a national Converse DJ competition the same year. Aside from breaks,
