dan Mela (14.02.73, Cambridge(Ontario), Canada), starts his professional dj career in 1987.Promoter of unexpectedly new situations in the south of Italy, he spreads alternative vibes through the house/ underground scene. In 1995, when he moves to Modena, he starts working with record companies, collaborating with Claudio Coccoluto, Pastaboys, Andrea Gemolotto (coauthor of "Walkin" , Sony Music UK), and labels such as Marsh Mallow, Irma (as “Gattobianco”), Manocalda Records. Among his most relevant releases: “In memory of”, “Re-Troit” and “Ritmo da Rua” (together with Luca Trevisi aka LTJ-Experience and dj Uovo from Pastaboys) by Streetvibes Recording and “Born to be a child” by Manocalda Records. His productions become popular in the underground world, from Europe to the States, from Uk to Japan, and he soon gains respect and consideration of producers such as Rainer Truby (Compost records), Matthias Heilbronn (Wave music), Little Louie Vega (Masters at Work), Dennis Ferrer (Ibadan/Objectivity rec.).In the meanwhile, he works with musicians from the jazz scene. One of them is Stefano Calzolari, together whom he proposes and realizes dj sets & piano playing and live theatre performances. He directs, together with Dodi Palese, ‘SouthVibes’ a radio Show which ranges from soul, jazz funk to the new beat scene, future jazz, and house music. He has been invited to Soulsearching Compost Radio Show, a radio show from Compost-Records ,run by Michael Rutten (Soulpatrol), and broadcasted all over the world. The program has had guest artists such as Gilles Peterson,Henrick Schwarz,Maurice Fulton,Jazzanova...
