OUTMODE'S
OUTMODE'S JUNE 09 CHARTOutmode is the combined vision of John Donaghy & Jeremy Duffy. Their sound (notably from the future) a cosmic fountain of electronic groove, otherworldly soundscapes derived from an influence of Disco, Soul, Dubstep, Jazz, House, Techno, Pop, Rock, Electro and just about everything else in between. All of this can often be referred to as ‘dance’ music (back to the future!). Their music has been supported by some of the world's most respected DJs/producers, the likes of Rob Da Bank, Groove Armada, Aeroplane, Dubfire, Ewan Pearson to name but a few.
The debut single 'True' was signed to the Italian Rebirth label and got heavy radio rotation across different BBC Radio shows, most notably when Groove Armada stood in for Pete Tong's ‘Essential Selection’. Tong went on to name it as the 'Essential Tune' on his international Radio show. The Glastonbury inspired second single on Rebirth, 'Funky Music' was released to critical reclaim in the summer of 08 and threw something of a curveball at conventional dance releases of the time.
This was followed up in early 2009 with an epic slice of deep soulful house music in the form of the ‘Rope Burn’ Ep for the rapidly emerging underground house label, 2 Pin Records. The track gained international support from genre leading techno luminaries such as Dubfire and Carl Cox. Early supporter Rob Da Bank provided the honour of closing his Radio 1 show with the track.
The diverse musicality shown in early tracks led to crafted remixes for bands such as Alabama 3, The Droyds and the legendary disco overlord Lindstrom. Outmode’s latest offering ‘Dark Journey’ comes on as the debut 'JoinThe Dots'. Rather than aiming directly for the dance floor, Dark Journey is more a piece of music in the truest sense, taking its influence from sounds a little more indefinite, fusing expansive elements suited to a festival, yet with hints of dub
