Review:
Ukranian label Wicked Bass Records here present a reissue of Parris Mitchell's essential classic "All Night Long", the X-rated lyrics of which have been a staple of many a DJ's bag since 1995. Although displaying the raw qualities of ghetto house, it's a track that nevertheless carries a finesse that harks back to an earlier time, with remnants of 80s piano house and fragmented disco breakdowns embedded within. It's joined by new original production and collaboration with Shinoby, "Bounce", which carries a percolating acid line around a series of wailing sirens and jerking elastic piano chords holding the whole thing together. The label's masterstroke however is hiring Night Slugs co-owner Bok Bok - a notable ghetto house admirer - to deliever his own take on the track. It's is a perfect revisiting of the source material, one that walks the line between abrasive and elegant, adding a heavyweight clang behind the piano line which gives the impression that the original's been submerged into a tank of water and shaken profusely.

Review:
It's always rather enjoyable to hear artists gaining inspiration from anything other than the current hyped old genres and current hipster-matic sounds. This collaboration between Pascal Viscardi and Jean Obuchowicz mines a variety of old skool sources, from the early, acid-flecked work of "Brown Album"-era Orbital, to the happy-go-lucky, whistle-heavy productions of early 90s New York. The result is a track that's sparse and heavy, but just filled in enough to give a warm, well-rounded sound. Mark E goes darker, druggier and altogether tougher on his remix, which is arguably one of his strongest of recent times.

Review:
So far, Paskal and Urban Absolutes have dropped some quality deep house: this EP for Germany's Farside imprint is just as quietly impressive as their previous output. Their forte is bright, soundscape deep house with a pleasingly musical cutting edge. The bubbling "Soplica" is arguably the best example of this, all bubbling Detroit synths, sensual shuffle and twinkling pianos. Lead cut "Limits", featuring Ania Ouu on vocals still offers a solid mix of neat old skool touches (check the New Jersey organs) and heady synth motifs. Manuel Tur remixes, offering two tougher, chunkier versions tailor made for late night dancefloors.
