Review:
Ah, Hot Creations, home to the hippest house music that cites disco and 25 year-old club anthems as its inspirations. Here, label head honchos Jamie Jones and Lee Foss revive their Hot Natured project for a sweet stroll through smiley vocal house territory in the company of one-time electrofunk revivalist Ali Love. "Benediction" is good for what it is - a vaguely deep, pleasant Hot Creations record - but the real killer here is the remix of former single "Forward Motion" by crusty old US garage head Mark "MK" Kinchen. He recalls those glory days of tough but groovy MK dubs with a rework straight out of 1993.

Review:
It's the season for giving, so Hot Since 82 and Shadow Child have decided to exchange presents - or, more specically, remix each other's tracks. The result is a four-tracker that features two original tracks and two remixes. Hot Since 82's snappy, tech-meets-electro house jam "Knee Deep In Louise" gets given a right Royal boot up the backside by bass music fiends Shadow Child - think rave riffs, gut-twisting sub bass action and 2012's most omnipresent electronic music attraction, the pitched-down vocal sample. Meanwhile, Hot Since 82 turn Shadow Child's Hypercolour-ish garage/deep house assault, "So High", into a strobelight house anthem with woozy, pitched down R&B vocal samples and swinging drums aplenty.

Review:
You can usually rely on Crazy P man Chris "Hot Toddy" Todd to deliver the goods. "Mutha Sucka" comes packed with the usual tasty musical touches - sweeping disco strings, chunky drums, clipped guitars - plus more than a nod and a wink to the woozy, alien-sounding synths preferred by their old pals at Futureboogie Recordings. Todd's usual partner in crime, Jim Baron, dons his Ron Basejam guise for the remix. His version goes a little deeper, sounding not unlike Julio Bashmore producing a Crazy P record. Which, when you think about it, is actually really good.

HOTEL MOTEL feat KATHY DIAMOND
UTS 018

Review:
Following a handful of remixes and a wickedly old skool single for Home Taping Is Killing Music, Hotel Motel aka DJ History's Bill Brewster and production partner Andrew Tepper turn up on the ever-excellent Under The Shade imprint. The original version of "Paying The Price", featuring disco chanteuse Kathy Diamond, is the real killer. Diamond's immaculate vocal, boosted with just the amount of reverb and delay, sits atop a sparse, sparkling groove that's judged to perfection. That cowbell-heavy beat work perfectly with the nagging electro bassline and simple synth and guitar melodies - all, of course, dubbed to within an inch of their lives. You can bask in the loveliness of the groove thanks to the inclusion of "Novak", basically a reworked instrumental dub of the vocal original. The package is completed by vocal and instrumental house takes which offer solid alternatives for DJs of a more house-friendly persuasion. The vocal version, in particular, is worth a look, if only for the addition of a backing male vocal that adds an extra dimension to the mix.
