Review: Occasional Rong Music types and Smash Hit Music Co mainstays 40 Thieves transfer to Claremont 56's dancefloor offshoot Leng for a touch of heady Balearic chugginess. "Backward Love" is arguably their best single for some time, coming on like a twisted Balearic disco trip through San Francisco's party underground with only copious amounts of LSD for company. It features backwards guitar solos, a killer groove and the sort of tight, dubwise disco bass that used to mark out Mudd releases. Flipside "Crystal Mountain Thunder Fuck" (really!) continues in the same vein, sounding not unlike an 80s alt rock B-Side. Well and truly baked - we love it.

Review: One Night In The Borough, the debut full-length from Scottish disco/house fusionists Craig Smith and Graeme "The Revenge" Clark, is arguably the best thing either producer has done yet (and certainly collectively). This first sampler 12" showcases four of the album's many highlights, offering plenty of loopy, floor-friendly grooves for those who like their house with more than a dash of original disco flava. Review: This second sampler for Craig Smith and Graeme Clark's excellent debut album once again sees them in fine form. While three of the four tracks stick to their tried-and-tested formula - rock-solid deep house built on heavy, head-nodding loops, long, lazy builds and cute, killer hooks - there's plenty to get excited about. The distinctly old skool "Back To Me" (check that analogue bassline) and hynotic head-nodder "Deep C" stand out, with "BURT (The Journey)" not far behind. The most revelatory moment, though, is "Settle", a dreamy downtempo concoction crafted from syrupy soul samples, echo-laden beats and sinewy strings that sounds like an updated version of Minnie Ripperton's more sensuous moments.

Review: Here's the latest installment from the 6th Borough Project, aka Craig Smith and Graeme Clark, and it gets better and better with every release. First off is "Slow Down Baby", a sleazy Love Unlimited-style affair with shimmering strings, analogue bassline and woodblocks. "Change" is also a string-laden affair, with a hankering female vocal straight outta "The Love Boat", while finally "Stratus Quo" picks up the pace with a cut aimed for the dancefloor, a super-funky bassline punctuated by swelling strings and jazzy keys. Highly recommended.
