Review:
We don't know much about the identity of G I V D A, but the smart money is on it being a side project of Cosmic Sumo boss Andrea Rucci. Certainly, fans of the Italian producer's curious analogue mix of psychedelic synths and sparse electronic rhythms will enjoy "Cosmic Circle". From the audible hiss and vintage drum machine beats, to the proto-acid electronics and fuzzy, alien chords, it's every bit an old fashioned cosmic disco weird-out. Rucci's own edit turns it into an intergalactic, robo-disco stomper, while Loudtone channels the spirit of Codek on his wide-eyed rework.

Review:
Given that many of the original heroes of slow house have moved on to pastures new, it's nice to see No More Hits still championing the cause of the hypnotic slow dance. This EP from the mysterious G&D features a trio of slow jams that should tickle the fancy of anyone who likes their bumpin' beats with a burst of enforced head nodding. Lead cut "Some Talk" is the standout track, delivering a fearlessly sturdy blast of 95 BPM reggae disco in a looped-up style. "Mustang" ups the tempo a little for a trip into deeper pastures (check out that lovely male vocal sample), while "Turned" drops the bass for a breezy trip through soulful, horn-drenched groovery.

Review:
Having impressed the heads with their 2009 debut on Dissident, the EBM/new beat-flavoured "Show Me The Good Times", Matt Waites and Nadia Ksaiba pop up on Disco Bloodbath. "The Green Man" flips the script slightly, moving further towards the murky worlds of dark Italo, horror disco and Scandolearic synth-wave. It's a bit of builder, working itself into a frenzy of crystalline synthesizer melodies, woozy house piano, chugging analogue bass and crisp drum machine beats. Capracara remixes, adding some urgent shuffle and darting keys to the original's soaring melodies and chunky bass. There's also a rather fine bonus track in the shape of "Dirk Bogarde", a grandiose trip into Scandolearic nu-disco territory.

Review:
Both Tough City Kids and Prins Thomas supply two mixes each for Galarude's "Cero", released through Prins Thomas and Kai Fraeger's Internasjonal imprint, but originally on Japanese label Locarno Records almost 10 years ago. PT's trademark "Diskomiks" burrows down hard on a vamped bassline adding Balearic electronics to the fray, whereas his "Ambiens" mix, as the title suggests, is devoid of beats and the bassline from his "Diskomiks". The first mix by Tough City Kids (Gerd Jansen & Phillip Lauer) re-rubs the originals synths and simplifies the tracks busy drums, opting for a Human League kick-snare routine instead. Their second mix boils down things even further with a remix that could have easily been labelled "bonus beats".

Review:
Second time round for Galarude's "Cero", which first appeared on Japan's Locarno Records way back in 2004. Produced by DJ Kent, Hiroshi Kawanabe and Noriyoshi Sassanuma (Sly Mongoose), the original version is a near perfect fusion of heavy tribal drums, beautiful tropical melodies and darting Balearic electronics. It may be nine years old, but it still sounds wonderfully fresh. That Prins Thomas has selected it for reissue is no surprise. This time round, there's also a bonus remix from hairy legend DJ Harvey. The reclusive party-starter shuffles the pack impressively, adding some snaking saxophone action on a version that delights in bringing out the original's most positive elements.
