Review:
Following a couple of years when he's rocked more uptempo rhythms, Cole Medina makes a return to the sumptuous, soul-flecked sound with which he made his name. Both "Stay With Cole" and the gorgeous "Aint No Funq" recall the orgasmic, touchy-feely vibes of his infamous Bee Gees rework ("Cole Loves You Inside & Out"), working a glut of glossy, string-laden soul samples into steaming slices of slo-mo sensuality. "Cole's Just Crazy" throws some 80s soul into the pot for max end-of-night slow-dance pressure, but it's the other two tracks that really excel. Sexytime with Cole, anyone?

Review:
For this 11th edition of the Whiskey Disco series, Sleazy McQueen has gathered together a series of decidedly loved-up re-edits, many with a real AOR feel. That's certainly the case with "Moonlight" - a wonky bundle of 6am sunrise hugs edited into shape by Yves Saint Lau'rant - and Anthony Mansfield's delightfully subdued "Cosmic Annie". There's some straight-up party flavours in the shape of Disco Tech's bumpin' rework of perennial Dolly Parton fave "Jolene", while Cole Medina successfully dubs out a deep house love song on "Your Love".

Review:
Occasionally a remix comes along that just seems perfect. This remix of Connan Mockasin's "Faking Jazz Together" by Michael Mayer most definitely falls into this category, the Kompakt boss expertly retaining the idiosyncrasies of Mockasin's track but melding them with a truly sumptuous arrangement. At eight minutes long it still feels like it could go on forever without losing any of its enchanting warmth and impact. The Phantasy Sound label has scored some really interesting releases and remixers to date, but Mayer's remix can be considered a true highlight. Worth the price alone, Phantasy include an extended version of the original's psychedelic cocktail jazz refrain on this release along with a remix from The Horrors' Tom Furse. Whilst not close to the heights of Mayer's remix, Furse does a fine job of retaining the rattling sensation of the original whilst rewiring the mainframe with EBM overtones.

Review:
A welcome return for Minneapolis' Dirty McKenzie, who here teams up with vocalist Sophia Shorai for a spot of seductive disco-acid fusion. The original version delivers just the right balance between Barry White-ish disco-soul foreplay and head-warping acid house tweakery - like Claudja Barry getting frisky with DJ Pierre, while the Walrus of Love watches on through a two-way mirror. The "Cocaine on Her Dress Mix", meanwhile, chugs along on a sweaty Italo tip, while the Your Love Is Gone mix turns the original into a spiralling chunk of intoxifying nu-disco prettiness. The shuffling synth bass of Bryan Gerrard's mix is certain to go down well with the Hot Creations crowd, while Faze Action's "Your Love Is Music" remix slows things right down with their irresistible brand of cosmic synth disco.

Review:
I bet the producers behind this synth-heavy electrofunk/acid house fusion chuckled when they decided to credit it to 'Eddie Mercury'. That cheeky sense of fun is present throughout the EP, from the nagging simplicity of the squidgy original version of "In Mexico", to the Robotnick-on-speed silliness of Andre VII's pumping, techno-tinged Italo rework. See also the '80s bass, freestyle and Italo mash-up madness of the Zombies In Miami Remix, and the wonky sub, skewed beats and mildly disturbing oddness of the Rubinskee dub Del Sesierto version. As ever with Electrique Music, the emphasis is on fun, but the sounds are more than interesting enough to warrant investment.
