Review:
The fantastically named A/Jus/Ted - veteran producers Justin Strauss and Eddie Mars on a collaborative tip - make their debut on Under The Shade. "A Brighter Light", featuring the treacle-thick soul vocals of Jeremy Glenn, sits somewhere between electro-soul, early Chicago house and Balearic nu-disco. As you'd probably expect from the soul-minded Strauss, the resultant track is effortlessly soulful, quietly uplifting and brilliantly produced. The same could be said of the more instrumental Re A/Jus/Ted remix, which blends skittering proto-house rhythms and electrofunk dub elements with woozy modern deep house. Like the original, it's excellent.

Review:
Somnambulant sonic flavours abound as NY house duo make their debut on Southern Fried with "Stay Up Here". Swaying with delicate pianos yet pumping with a prominent acid hook and sparkling with Miss Bee's lush vocal, it's deep without any danger of limpness. Remix-wise both Bonar Bradberry and The Rhythm Odyssey deliver the goods. Bonar spaces things out a little and adds a trippier, more yearning edge to the groove while The Rhythm Odyssey (AKA Dean Meredith from Chicken Lips) dub-funks out the whole affair with a powerful synth bassline. Lovely.

Review:
Lino 'Alkalino' Rodriguez is getting straight to the point with the title of the latest release on his own Audaz label. The music featured also has a similar no-nonsense attitude, being all attention grabbing party starters. "Love That Funk" is an excellent electro-disco-boogie banger with an underlying hi-NRG feel. Ronnie Law's classic, "Always There", is subtly retweaked in sensitive fashion and likewise for Mystic Merlin's storming "Just Can't Give You Up".

Review:
Prins Thomas' Full Pupp label seems to excel at finding hitherto unknown Norwegian disco talent. Here, it offers up the debut full-length from Oslo native Andre Bratten, who apparently shares studio space with Lindstrom and Todd Terje. Comparisons with both producers are understandable; Be A Man You Ant's shimmering vintage synths, stargazing melodies and chugging space disco grooves (particularly those on the intoxicating "Aegis") are reminiscent of both producers' early work. It's already been pointed out that "Libra" shares an aesthetic with Terje's "Inspector Norse", while the quirky "Still Sertie" and mutant funk oddity "I Am Square" bear all the hallmarks of a Six Cups of Rebel B-side. Clearly, Bratten is a talent to watch.

Review:
For his latest release, Spain's Angel Funke dips his toes in the still waters of collaboration, teaming up with the less flamboyantly monikered Alex Brinken. It's all about the party for these producers, they don't really do the chin stroking stuff. Instead they prefer to make music to have fun to. "Disco Bologna" combines 'Ring My Bell'-style musical motifs and Speak & Spell vocals, two retro sounds that you would never had heard at the same time (unless you brought your kids out clubbing. If so, bad parent!). Elsewhere the best remix the most intense one, supplied by The Funky Factory.

Review:
One of Kojak Giant Sounds' best moments comes to digital for the first time. These two Lefttside Wobble edits originally slipped out on 12" in 2010, and have remained in the box of discerning DJs ever since. The uplifting, low-down version of Ashford and Simpson's "Don't Cost You Nothing" is teased and tweaked to perfection, with the track's celebratory feel and springy groove rightly treated with respect. The drum breaks sound fiercer than ever, too, with plenty of subtle build and the odd dose of tape delay to keep things moving. The dubby, extended rework of Esther Philips' "All The Way Down" - all relentless bass, dubwise effects and Blaxploitation hustle - is also killer. Don't sleep.

Review:
Here we have two rare-as-hen's teeth cuts from disco-era boy/girl duo Aurra. They largely released on Salsoul and had the likes of Larry Levan remix them, so you can kind of guess what to expect. "Satisfaction" is classic early 80s electro-boogie that recalls the sleazy glamour of Prince proteges Vanity 6. "My Lovin Is For You" is more the kind of jheri-curled smooth ballad that the likes of Champagne were known for.
