Review:
The highly anticipated release of Grimy Edits Vol. 6 is here with the type of monster edits you'd expect from GRIMY! On this sixth volume of the popular edit series you have Veteran Chicago DJs Zernell & Rahaan bringing the heat with Rahaan's supercharged version of Rebound as the 1st track, coupled with the Zernell - Rahaan collaboration of an obscure B-side Latin Disco / Break Beat Jam perfectly titled WHAT! Joined on the flip side of the release is veteran edit master Tim McAllister of M.I.L.C. Music fame who takes a lesser known JB 7" and transforms it into the dance foor killer titled "I Need Help!".

Review:
Given how many re-edit releases he's had over the last few years, you have to wonder whether Rayko will soon run out of fresh scalpel material. Thankfully, he's not reached the 'barrel-scraping' stage, as this breezy two-tracker proves. "Enjoy Your Life" is the epitome of summery disco-soul, all shuffling beats, addictive vocals, darting strings and wiggly funk guitars; it's the sort of thing that should be booming out of a boat party soundsystem somewhere in the Adriatic. "Emotion", meanwhile, sees Rayki return to his love of electrofunk drums, turning a synth bass-laden disco jam into a touchy-feely instrumental delight.

Review:
The original version of Reptile Youth's "Fear" brings to mind Duran Duran covering R.E.M's Orange Crush (not necessarily a bad thing). But this EP is more about the remixes - there are three in total: Kasper Bjorke provides a very Kitsune-style indie electro rework (in the vein of acts like Logo) with plenty of live sounding drums and analogue bleeps. The Broke Party Anthem mix is total widescreen trancey euphoria, but it's the sparse piano torch song of Slow Hands' version that steals the show.

Review:
Through the medium of his Dikso imprint, Daniel Solar unveils these remixes of label stalwarts Robeto Calzetta and Twin Soul (aka Remco Custers - with a name like that why change it?!). On to the music and "Faith" gets a soft n smooth Mediterranean house workover by LeSale and a thick n creamy minimal house whisk up by Hannes Fischer. Elsewhere "Walk On Us" gets a muscular electro-house pump up by Marc Poppke.

Review:
Safety Scissors has already featured quite prominently on Ellen Allien's BPitch Control, a label which readily guarantees quality on all fronts, but this is his first full-length work for the imprint and only his third altogether. It's certainly bold and different to many other things featuring on the label, but Mr. Scissors has created quite a spectacle, where acoustic-ambient moments such as "Moving Light" are intertwined with maniacal beat-shredding like "Somnambulance", the straighter 4/4 licks of "Gemini" or even the laid-back, pop rhythms of "Progress & Perseverance" and the glitchy, vocal-led flex on "Lights Out". It's great to see such a successful electronic label doing things just that little bit differently!
