Review:
Here we have two rare-as-hen's teeth cuts from disco-era boy/girl duo Aurra. They largely released on Salsoul and had the likes of Larry Levan remix them, so you can kind of guess what to expect. "Satisfaction" is classic early 80s electro-boogie that recalls the sleazy glamour of Prince proteges Vanity 6. "My Lovin Is For You" is more the kind of jheri-curled smooth ballad that the likes of Champagne were known for.

Review:
It's another meeting of different Italian disco generations as cosmic disco veteran Daniele Baldelli and young(ish) hotshot Marco Dionigi team up for another joint EP. "Cosmic Efficacy" is a linear arpeggiated electro-disco journey to the stars, complete with electro-housey drum fills. In its "Slow Motion Remix" guise the tune is even spacier and highlights it's Moroder-isms even more. "Parallelo" on the other hand is much more abstract, with retro films samples woven over a coarse, electronic backdrop that resembles distorted cosmic interference. Far out!

Review:
Hot on the heels of Swedish producer Ture Sjolberg's recent single "Fire & Pain" comes a special remix from the mighty Los Grandes boss Dynamicron. His signature nu-disco sound is put to great effect here, with the original being turned into a seven minute adventure into 80s darkrooms, full of dry ice and carrying the distinct whiff of amyl nitrate. Fuelled by an arpeggiated bassline and a hunger for decadence this electro-disco banger would make the great Patrick Cowley very proud.

Review:
Given his encyclopedic knowledge of music, you'd expect any compilation put together by Bill Brewster to be full of unlikely gems and lesser-known anthems. That's certainly the case with After Dark, the first in a new DJ-focused series from the Late Night Tales camp. From start to finish, Brewster's selections are spot on, from the lowdown, slo-mo disco oddness of Sheffield chanteuse Marti Caine's "Love The Way You Love Me" and wide-eyed, acid-laden kosmiche of Coober Peder University Band's "Moon Plain", to the dirty electrofunk of Zed Bias's "Koolade" (featuring Toddla T, of all people) and mid'80s percussion fest of Martin Kershaw's "Keep On Pokin". If that wasn't enough, Brewster has also unearthed a decent Jamiroquai record. The wonders never cease.

Review:
The good ship Juno traverses the Firecracker galaxy and lands once more in the spacious Unthank region with more down under cross genre pollinations. Last year's Inskwel induction was a noted highlight in the small but perfectly formed Unthank catalogue, but this fifth edition from the unheralded Booshank might just match it. Loose gargling acid of the deranged kind characterises lead track "Single Dutch" whilst on the flip "Interstate" has that psychedelic, cosmic vibe that Max D does so well. Booshank's disregard for kick drum politics is demonstrated with aplomb on "Secret Life" a simmering concoction of bristling textures which explodes into a charge of drums with the kind of glee that's almost sexual.

Review:
Possibly named after his favourite retro toasted sandwich maker, Brevil is an Australian disco producer currently on his third outing for Kosta Ellis' Superbreak imprint. His sound is low-slung and dirty and any of the four tracks here are guaranteed to get everybody in the mood for some disco love. Highlights include the loopy and hypnotic "Slow N Low", the shimmering female funk of "Never Gonna Stop" and the rumbling bass and delayed drums-fest that is "Turn U On".

Review:
Here we have some seriously badass electrofunk from Dutch duo Bumper, aka Geoffrey T and the legendary Mr Pauli. "Sexy Moves" is vocoder-driven 80s style electro-boogie that's had the sheen stripped off, leaving it raw and nasty (the way we like it!). "NY Nights" evokes vintage late nightclub action and features super-funky Prince-esque guitar licks. Remix-wise Neighbour delivers some killer arpeggiated electro-disco and Kreap speed things up for a funky house rework.

Review:
On a retro TV show, Imagination singer Lee John discussed how everybody thought they were an impossibly glamourous an beautifully produced American soul act...until they learnt that they were from Brixton. After that they were just dismissed as a camp joke. Thankfully the passing of time has proved them to be the former, resulting in many respectful tributes, if maybe one too many unnecessary re-edits. Also included are retweaks of Alphonse Mouzon's wonderful "Everybody Get Down" and the electro-squiggles/funk of Stephanie Mills' "You Can Get Over".
