DISCO DOUBLES feat DMIA
PERMVAC 104-1

Played by: Homegroove Project, Juno Recommends Disco, Jkriv (Deep And Disco/Razor-N-Tape), Del Strange, Disco Doubles
Review:
When it comes to disco reversions, remixers don't come much bigger than Metro Area's Darshan Jesrani. Here we find him slicing up intriguing new synth pop act Disco Double. The main mix rolls with a delightfully playful analogue bassline that complements every second the falsetto vocals. For something a little deeper head for the spit-roast dub where the drums are stripped back to a more tribal flavour and the synths are dubbed out to perfection. Release your "Demons" within today!

Review:
Veteran disco/house fusionist DJ Steef returns with a treacle-thick EP of slo-mo and midtempo deep house. Opener "We Could Be Together" makes great use of heady, intoxicating disco strings and tear-jerking pianos, as well as a curiously downbeat vocal sample. There are slightly more upbeat thrills to be found on "Raining", which impressively fuses folksy guitar samples and deep house atmospherics with a heavily electronic nu-disco groove. The FkClub mix injects a bit more energy into the deeper original - think electro-house meets disco-house - while the even deeper Wet Mix sounds like a disco-minded house producer's take on Orbital's "Attached".

Review:
For his latest offering, Los Grandes label boss Dynamicron lets the Launching Satellites crew handle the release work while he handles the music side of things. Good job too as it's a very strong release indeed: "Hard To Find" is a deliciously slowly building electro-disco opener, the mean 'n' moody "Leave No Trace" follows with sinister panache, "Dust" is over seven minutes of laid back Balearic vibes and "Early Colours" is an experimental funk-out of the highest order.

Review:
London based DJ and producer Earl Grey has tried his hand at numerous styles over the years, most notably house, techno and electronica, without finding his true calling. Here, he may have found his sound. Not Everyone's Cup of Tea is built around the sort of sharp, alien synths most frequently found in synthwave and leftfield electro-pop productions. Throughout, there are used to good effect on tracks that veer from ice-cold, slo-mo synthwave (see the delightful, vocoder-clad "Through The City") and drifting atmospherics ("Jus Clap"), to stylish nu-disco ("Pong") and skewed synth-funk (the mascara-boasting "Regent's Park"). Impressive stuff, all told.

Review:
Dessert Island sounds like fun - all apple crumble with a retro disco soundtrack (we'd certainly holiday there!). On "Jus Sayin", Edit Me arrives with a totally retro poolside bar vibe - shimmering orchestration, jazzy drums and a lazy soulful glow. Sandy Roland however, is going for some crazy 80s night action, with "5 Simple Steps" soundtracking an open air Miami disco, a joyous jumble of freestyle electro, pastels and OTT strings.

Review:
Texan EDM popsters Eleven:Eleven open up their steaming sweat-session "Electric Sex" to all manner of reversions, each of them with heaps of dancefloor appeal. Both Paulo Trip and Audio Art opt for soften, sensuous tech a la early Get Physical. MooZ (IT), meanwhile, heads for an angular sun-kissed sugar-sweet vibe. Elsewhere we find Fabry Carrasco getting all deep and shufflesome, Lucas Keiszer dropping the tempo for a deep hypnosis experience and Renato Trevizan serving up a funky-yet-trippy number. Electrifying and sexy - what more do you need?

Review:
A key member of the Mullet contingent, Elijah Collins has quite regularly stolen the show on many a release via his beefy electro-house remixes. Here we get a whole EP of his and he's in a particularly frisky mood! "Shake Dat" is a sleazy hip-houser built around a nasty, stripper-friendly bassline that certainly gets our dollars in it's thong! There's also an extended instrumental version that's a totally awesome jack-fest!

Review:
Despite making a name for himself in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, Elliot Thomas has yet to make his mark in electronic music at large. Judging by this first solo single for Voyeurthythm, he could be a name to watch in coming years. Brimming with snappy analogue drums, vintage synths and tear-jerking melodies, "Sirius" is a delightful slab of stargazing deepness with some impressive influences (early Chicago deep house, the Burrell brothers, classic Detroit techno). It sounds like something that could have been made in '88 or '89, right down to the analogue warmth present throughout. "Desert Light" follows a similar template, delivering bubbling electronic arpeggios, yearning synth melodies and subdued analogue drums. Recommended.

Review:
Wow! Fans of either Escort or modern nu-disco (or both!) can now rejoice as the retro New Jersey band's eponymous LP has now been remixed by a string of key producers. It's a veritable feast, a smorgasbord even, of pulsating electronics, female vocals and the kind of music that makes you imagine you're Richard Gere in American Gigolo. Highlights include the voodoo weirdness of Sub Swara's take on "All Through The Night", the high octane Proper Heat mix of "Chameleon Chameleon" and Ewan Pearson's Tom Tom Club-esque version of "Cocaine Blues".
