Adam A3X Active Studio Monitor (single, black)
$218.78
Single nearfield/desktop monitor
Review: With the A3X monitor, ADAM present their smallest monitor to date, making it perfectly suited for all environments where space is limited but sound shouldn't be constricted. The A3X monitor combines a tiny footprint with the much acclaimed ADAM sound quality by using the X-ART tweeter for the higher frequencies and a guarantee for crystal clear music reproduction.

A 4.5" (basket) driver handles the lower registers. The diaphragm is made from carbon fiber, a material that is very light but very stiff and therefore capable of delivering colouring-free sound. 2 built-in 25W amplifiers powers each of the drivers directly.

A very handy and exclusive technology found in the 2 smaller AX monitors is the Stereolink. This is accomplished by a pair of additional RCA connections that allow for a bypass of the second stereo channel to the other speaker. This new technology connects 2 A3X monitors in such a manner as to allow the user the option to control the overall stereo volume of the system from either speaker's gain control. This makes the A3X monitor a natural for mixer-less desktop applications where overall system volume needs to be adjusted easily.

The front of the A3X monitor sports dual ports for surprisingly low frequency response down to 60Hz. The front panel also has power and gain controls. The rear panel includes a tweeter gain control as well as balanced (XLR) jacks and unbalanced (RCA) jacks, allowing for greater connection flexibility. There are also 2 M6 (6mm) metric screw threads for stand/wall mounting.

Adam A5X Active Studio Monitor (single, black)
$335.16
Single nearfield/desktop monitor
Review: The small Adam A5 monitor managed to make itself a big name in both professional environments as well as in computer or desktop applications. A wealth of truly outstanding reviews and many awards helped to establish this speaker as one of the best small monitors and a great choice for the small studio. The similar dimensions and name could make one believe that the Adam A5X monitor is nothing more than a new version of the A5. A quick listening however leaves no doubt that the A5X is much more than that.

The Adam A5X monitor features the proprietary X-ART tweeter. The very data of this technology shows that it is at the forefront of what tweeters can accomplish. Numerous listening tests have confirmed this.

A 5.5" Midwoofer reproduces the frequencies below 2.5 kHz. The diaphragm is made from carbon fiber/rohacell/glass fiber. This composite material with minimum weight and maximum rigidity prevents break up resonances, resulting in an outstanding dynamic behaviour and impeccable sound characteristics.

Adam A7X Active Studio Monitor (single) + FREE Anti Vibration Mat (grey) Bundle
$516.70
Single nearfield monitor bundled with anti-vibration mat
Review: With the A7X monitor, Adam Audio proudly presents the evolution of a legend. The first aspect that distinguishes the old from the new model is the X-ART tweeter. The X stands for extended frequency response and thus for one of the features of the accelerating ribbon technology that has been drastically improved: the frequency response. It now extends all the way up to 50 kHz. In addition, the X-ART tweeter has a higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels.

The perfect integration with the lower frequencies has been achieved with a newly designed 7" midwoofer. It has been redesigned with a much bigger voice coil (1.5") and is driven by an amplifier with twice the power compared to its predecessor. This combination produces an amazing sound and pressure levels with an almost distortion-free musical reproduction.

Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the midwoofer is being driven by a 100W PWM amp. The front panel includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on/off switch.

On the rear panel are several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies (-/+ 4 dB) and 2 shelf filters for high and low frequencies. To ensure greater compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.

As you know, over 90 of a speaker's radiated power is of frequencies below 200Hz. Enormous amounts of energy are dissipated. That energy is partially dissipated into the cabinet structure which in turn vibrates the supporting structure, ie floorboards and joists. Witness the bass thump from sounds from other rooms. A foam mat will absorb most of this low frequency energy. The manufacturer evaluated various formulations of foam rubber and found this to provide the greatest attenuation and also provide a greater definition to the sound within the studio.

The dimensions of the bundled mat: 400mm x 300mm x 75mm.

Alesis M1 Active MkII Compact Active Nearfield Monitors (pair)
$311.91
Bi-amplified active studio reference monitor speakers
Review: The Alesis MONITOR ONE ACTIVE MK2 (Pair) Bi-Amplified Studio Reference Monitors. Great accuracy and detailed response in a powered system that's truly affordable.
These biamplified reference monitors offer the incredibly accurate response that perfectly translates to every playback system. Each monitors internal active crossover and custom-designed dual amplifiers ensure an extremely consistent performance under a variety of different studio conditions and program material. The result is a broad, extremely flat frequency response, clear imaging with a wide sweet spot, high power handling and detailed high- and mid-frequency response that only a professional powered monitor can deliver. The Alesis M1 ACTIVE MKII woofer and tweeter were specifically designed for the most linear, low distortion response in powered monitoring applications. Its 6.5 inch woofer cone is formulated from non-woven carbon fibre. It's a material that has been used for the skins of combat aircraft wings, since it offers high tensile strength and low weight. In fact, carbon fibre is 25 lighter than polypropylene (the most common driver material) and hence provides quicker transient response in the low frequency range for superb bass response as well as a vast improvement in the detail of critical upper-mid frequencies. The Alesis M1 ACTIVE MK II 1 inch tweeter dome is made of pure silk, which offers a natural response that aids in preventing ear fatigue during long mix sessions. It also features an internal pole piece mounted phasing plug and is ferrofluid cooled to maintain the best balance of transient response to power handling. Two audiophile-quality amplifiers-a 75 watt woofer amp and a 25 watt tweeter amp-were developed for the M1 Active MkII, along with 8th order high- and low-pass electronic crossover filters. The crossover point was carefully chosen at a low 1500Hz, and produces an extremely wide dispersion zone as well as low midrange coloration. Also, the special time alignment circuitry that's been added to the tweeter section of this crossover allows the output of frequencies from the high and low drivers to occur in perfect synchronization, avoiding the time smear that's typical in less advanced powered speakers. In developing the M1 Active Mk II, the Alesis engineering team discovered that dual font-mounted ports provided the fastest, most coherent and extended low frequency augmentation. Also, the unique offset design of the high frequency driver allows for the flattest frequency and power response in a speaker that offers such wide dispersion. The M1 Active MkII has an attractive mirror-imaged, charcoal- toned cabinet and magnetically-shielded drivers that allow placement in close proximity with computer or video monitors, and offers the added benefit of blending beautifully into your studio's decor without being obtrusive. They may be mounted in either a horizontal or vertical placement to best fit your studio's requirements.
Alesis M1 Passive MkII Studio Reference Monitor Speakers (pair)

Pair of 2-way active ribbon studio reference monitors with Kevlar woofer
Review: The Behringer TRUTH B3031A monitors bring velocity ribbon tweeters. The Behringer TRUTH B3031A were never designed to sound hyped or enhanced, just natural. When Behringer's engineers designed the B3031A studio monitors, they only had one goal in mind, to create the most accurate and honest monitors so you could hear and feel exactly what you've recorded.

They insisted on using the best materials and technology such as ultra-high resolution, 2" velocity ribbon transducers, long-throw woofers with Kevlar cones and deformation-resistant aluminum die-cast chassis.

Behringer's engineers also integrated 225W bi-amped technology so the B3031A could boast enormous power reserves when driven hard. To guarantee an ultra-linear frequency response, each monitor is hand-aligned and comes with an individual frequency diagram. But how do they sound? Just listen.

The cast-aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) and advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) technologies are carefully matched with advanced amplifier and electronics circuitry and the latest drivers. Bass response extends down to 73 Hz (-3 dB) while distortion is exceptionally low due to a uniquely new rear reflex port design.

The system's excellent directivity characteristics and accurate imaging together with its compact size and flexible mounting options make the 6010A the perfect loudspeaker for a wide range of applications. You can go back to our product page for other high-quality active studio monitor speakers.
