Review: UFO releases an epic 15-track album on Ray Keith's legendary Dread imprint. Taking it right back to '94 (in spirit at least), it's needless to say that rattling old skool Amen breaks and dark, creaky basslines are the order of the day here, with a good dose of dark, grimey goodness to boot. Of course, there are plenty of other influences creeping in along the way, from technoid opener "Techno Funk" through "303 Mayhem" with its sci-fi SFX, to the slo-mo sultriness of "Da Funk Fang", ALL OF which add an extra dimension to the release, but overall this is one for the heads!

Review: Bournemouth based duo Ulterior Motive prove once again that it's all about quality over quantity. Having kept us on our toes for a while now, they're back with another killer release on the label known affectionately by label boss Teebee as "the home of the squelch". An eerie intro leads into an Ed Rush style venture in first track "Tesla", dominated by extremely stylish driving bass and tense, ticking breaks which roll through 'til the end in suitably poised fashion. "Seven Segments", up next, blends a rippling synthline, with terse drums, grouchy bass and shimmering SFX. Essential for future funk heads.

Review: Burgeoning kings of underground D&B, Bournemouth based duo Ulterior Motive have never ceased to impress with their slew of super hot releases. Now they're back with another big release on Teebee's Subtitles. Getting dark, deep and murky with "It's On", the title track is a cacophony of brutal breaks, smashing snares, grinding bass and ominous vocals courtesy of Codebreaker. "Point Of Difference" is the perfect accompaniment, with its slightly more withheld tension, crisp, punchy breaks and plenty of punishing sub bass pressure. A must buy for the tech heads!
