Review:
Seattle might be a city famous for grunge, rain and coffee, but Quadrant, Kid Hops and Iris are hoping to place it firmly on the map for chilling, glacial liquid funk too. Forgoing the usual sun 'n' sea atmospherics for an altogether more Baltic feel, "Solar Wind" tweaks electronic chimes and cirrus-light sampling into an icy cold roller Enei would be proud of. Newcomers Lukeino and Homemade Weapons collab with Quadrant on "Mayday", as light synths circle above a crevasse of deep, cavernous bass. Cinematic and fresh with unique elements of crisp production and breakbeat influences, its got our seal of approval.

Review:
Quantum Soul teams up with Stamina MC in his production guise Linden! First up in this three-track EP on Inside Recordings is "Tradition" with its powerful, epic intro which sounds like the start of a film, it blends an eerie horn with glowering sub bass and tense, pattering drums to awesome effect. "Mindstates" channels a similar tone, with a pervasive sense of unease which is heightened by snatches of vocal, whirring bass and light percussion, before "Zhu" rounds things off once and for all.

Review:
Qumulus lives up to expectation with a dose of lush, liquid D&B, full of shuffling breaks, breezy atmospherics and soulful overtones. The Bassment Jazz EP kicks off with the title track - a beautiful venture, characterized by muffled narrated vocals, rough, rattling breaks and rolling bass with chiming melodies sweeping over the top and some serious jazz infusions. "4 Blocks West" is another trumpet-tooting session of sunshine with booming b-line, rolling drums and blissed out atmospherics. If you like your D&B laid back and atmospheric then this one's for you.

Review:
Quadrant and Dabs switch it up on this split release on Citrus; first it's Dabs remixing Quadrant's "Only Mortal" and then it's vice versa. The former is all terse, punchy drums, dreamy ethereal pads and understated trance-like synths, falling into the main tune with a shudder of SFX and pound of drums. The latter is Quadrant's remix of Dabs' "Crawler" - crisp, stuttering beats are punctuated by hissing hi-hats and warping bass reminiscent of a Jubei release kicks in and dominates for the rest of the tune.
