Review:
Aaron Static delivers something a little special here on the wonderful Slime imprint. "251" gets things started with delicate, intricately woven rhythms and uplifting melodies. The intro is one glorious instrumental sweep with cooing SFX and deftly placed beats, building into a deep, hazy main part with considerable skill. "Reflections", on the other hand, ups the ante with warm, undulating bass and pattering drums in a more recognizable D&B format. This one bridges the gap between listening at home and a more dancefloor-orientated beat well. Take heed.

Review:
Expect something a little different here as Danny Scrilla gets experimental on Cosmic Bridge. The Flash Powder EP is a four-track venture, which kicks off with the mysteriously entitled "X" - a low-slung number with grueling sub bass pressure, bubbling synth belches and quirky SFX. "VV Cepehei" starts in a similarly enticing fashion with clip clop beats, mournful synth sweeps and builds into another hypnotic little venture, leading into "Street Sound" with its heavy, Joker-esque synths and thudding beats. Final track "Hunch" brings in the talents of Om Unit as a final artistic flourish.

Review:
With just one other record to his name Danny Scrilla is certainly new to the game, but there's no slouching from him when it comes to his first appearance on Civil Music. Bringing an orchestral dynamic to linear dubstep structures, there are glorious swells of sound on "Fallout" that offset the stark drums and electro arpeggios with poise. "Jolt" is a more outright rave-testing tune, packing a monstrous bass synth a ever-steady forward momentum, while "Magellanic Clouds" follows a similar formula of face-twisting peaks and drops. With Goth-Trad and Deft on remix duties, there's plenty of fresh faced beat science to enjoy here.

Review:
Leeds dubstepper and Tectonic regular Jack Sparrow ascends from the misty depths with a killer debut on Mala's Deep Medi Musik label! Borrowing a hefty vocal sample from The Watchmen that influences the title, "Afraid Of Me" is the latest in Deep Medi's long tradition of twisted next century steppers, all heavy kicks and pulsating sub bass that craftily descend into the shadows midway through before dropping back into laser precision focus. Sparrow pays heed to the meditative vibes of the label with "Good Old Days" adopting the laid back jazzy tropes of more liquid forms of drum and bass but applying them to the 140+bpm mainframe.
