Big, ballsy and bass-bitten: The Remix Cartell are on their thirty third volume of reversions. And they still sound as a savage and ruthlessly party-minded as they did when they first emerged. Bulging with eight cuts, there's plenty to chew on here. Highlights include the astonishingly saw-tooth blend of Alex Clare's "Too Close", a raw booty-bashing twist on B.I.G's "Where Brooklyn At" with "Brooklyn Break" and a crucial blend of Mylo and 69Boyz with "Shake The Pressure". Rude and raucous throughout, this is the Cartell at their tightest.

Review:
One of Get Physical's most distinctive family members, Mr OHara's enchanting blend of folk and electronica is captivating, immersive and, if you ask us, utterly unmissable. A brand new track, "El Zahir" weighs in at an impressive 10 minutes and rolls with a classic railroad-style guitar lick. Laced with slight psychedelic pads and strange, eerie sounds, Raz's voice is buried deep in the mix, allowing the textures to really wash over you as we gradually build into a crescendo that playfully never pays off. For something with a little more dancefloor kick, head to Acid Pauli's remix. And for a complete tech-heavy reversion, head to The Sorry Entertainers remix. Each rendition rocks in its own inimitable way.

The Plumps follow up April's debut Dirty Weekend volume with this tricky trio of upfront bangers. Their own remix of Mark Ronson's "Record Collection" is the most intriguing; proper full-on techno with a screaming acid hook and thunderous 4/4 kick, it's quite the monster... And wildly contrasting to their earlier work. Detboi's remix of Bonsai Kat's "Bla Bla" follows and it's yet another acid-saturated smasher. Those old enough to recall DJ Misjah & Tim's "Access" (ask your mum) should resonate with this. Shucks, anyone with half an ear should resonate with this! Finishing off the uncompromising club-focussed EP is a Blatta & Inesha remix of the Plumps' "Gobstopper"; a lolloping, beats with shades of electro and techno, the Italian outfit have retained the original old school flavoured synth hook and very little else. Floor trembling stuff... Check-in or check the hell out!

Review:
This "Twin Turbo" series has been a force to be reckoned within techno this year. And with John Roman on board, its consistency is in very safe hands. With previous on labels such as Lektroluv and Plant Music, his pedigree is already proven and this nifty trio of grooves should take him to another level again. We kick off with "St Hood", a clicky, loopy number that's broken up sweetly with a haunting choral vocal. The title track follows and, as the name suggests, it's a bit of a scarier affair with deep throbbing subs a great looped vocal and a rolling percussive rhythm that Dubfire enjoys so much. "Chimaera" finishes the set with equal menace thanks to some booming stop/start kicks and a spatial arrangement that was designed specifically for massive rooms. Roll on Twin Turbo 011.

Review:
Finnish duo Renaissance Man delivered one of last year's most interestingly constructed albums in the shape of The Renaissance Man Project, a debut notable most for its obvious attention to sound design. Sensing there was room to explore the many layers on those twelve tracks, the duo's label Turbo have released the impressive looking and self explanatory Renaissance Man Remix. Any release that features the collective production talents of Dexter, Jori Hulkkonen, Joakim, Matthew Herbert and Call Super among others is worthy of attention and each remix is quite excellent. Klakson boss Dexter takes on "Stalker Humanoid" retaining the clanging sonic textures amidst ominous dojo vibes, whilst Hulkkonen goes prog acid in the best way possible. Tigersushi boss Joakim meanwhile turns in a reliably mental take on "Trance Central" whilst the Berlin dwelling Call Super takes you through the murky recesses of machine funk with an equally individual "Proto Forma" take on "Vancouver". Additional remixes come from Teeth, Locked Groove, WhoMadeWho, Paul Woolford and Renaissance Man themselves. Highly recommended.

Review:
Bristol-based producer and Yardcore member RRRitalin hits hard on this new four-track release - an unadulterated blast of hardcore and mashed-up rave genius. "Badman" takes no prisoners right from the get go, with a sound resembling Squarepusher gone breakbeat, while "Fuk'd N Bomb'd" recalls Tim Exile's early live mash-up years. "Eh Yo" takes a hip-hop acapella as its base and puts sonic gunpowder under it via stuttering Bmore beats and '90s hardcore synth stabs, while Sheffield crew Squires Of Gothos cook up a tasty ghetto tech treatment of "Fuk'd N Bomb'd" to round off this ADHD-friendly gem.

Review:
An overdue debut on Defected, this is an anthemic slice of twisted yet soulful house that will burrow into your head after a few listens. A long, long build up breaks into the most fluid and perfect funky bassline this side of Alan Braxe. A simple filtered melody rounds it off nicely. This will surely kill it on a whole host of floors.

Review:
Finnish duo Renaissance Man prepare us for what should be a most intriguing debut album, prepped for release later this year on Tiga's all conquering Turbo imprint, with the delightfully tongue twisting "What Do You Do When You Do What You Do". Just as crafty as the title is the track, which wraps the titular refrain around all manner of slick live percussive touches, all balanced out by the chiming melodies. Armed with the Turbo cheque book, Renaissance Man enlist their favourite producers to tackle the track in the shape of Paul Woolford and Matthew Herbert. The latter is a wise choice given his own experimental leanings and his Little Liar remix sees Herbert add his own vocals along with a shuffling midnight house sensation. Woolford's effort retains the loose percussive lean, adding more swing amidst a jacking electro beat following a tough acid refix from Turbo's Glaswegian groover Sei A and a digital only tweak from Gingy & Bordello.
