Review:
Tiombe Lockheart's futuristic funk under his Cubic Zirconia alias sounds better than ever on this new single for Fool's Gold. Mixing together the most unlikely of influences, it melts Latin sway with jazz drumming, epic, proggy synth solos and softly sung vocals. Equal parts Blue Note and Eglo, it's a really intriguing single, available with a hugely useful acapella and instrumental. Electro heads might want to head straight for Dutch master Bart Bmore's rather huge remix, which has already been given spins by Annie Mac amongst others.

Review:
It seems a long time since James Zabiela, then being touted as "Sasha's protege", made his production debut with 2005's Utilities EP. Here it gets a first digital reissue, complete with the long-forgotten suite of noises, sounds and samples ("The Utilities Suite") that creative DJs can, ahem, utilize in their sets. Despite leaning heavily on tech-tinged breaks (a style largely unheard of these days), all three main tracks have aged well. The acid-laden tech-funk slammer "Robophobia" is probably the pick, though the tech house-meets-dub stomper "Skankuary" still sounds pretty fresh, despite its use of needless scratching.
