Review:
Spanish funkateer Alonso gets his Huey Lewis on with this light-rock flavoured funklet. With a drive and riff not dissimilar to "My Sharona", Brown and Charlie get foot loose and fancy free, whirling in a distorted pop fug. Backed with a classic funk swing and a polite guitar solo, it's a bold blend that could work in myriad dance scenarios.

Review:
Smooth and jazzy joy abounds on this collection of remixes of B Dub's "B Funk". Their own 7" dub throws in a laidback trombone solo in place of the vocals, but it's Badboe who really kicks off the party with his DJ Spinna-esque treatment, recalling the great Fred Wesley at times too. It's full of life and would get even the staunchest wallflower grooving after a few seconds. Sard Boogie slows down the tempo on his mix and creates a melancholic soundbed for the brass solos to really shine. Funky brilliance spun out over three delightful tracks.

Review:
A hard-groovin' eight-piece from the UK, B Dub Groove Revue slam dunk the funk on this new single which mixes fatback drums with a billowing brass section - perfect for fans of raw '60s funk aimed squarely at the dancefloor. If you prefer a more studio-aided sound though, remixes from Mr Bird and Sard Boogie keep the funk locked in whilst fleshing out those kicks and bass licks a little more.

Review:
A ridiculously fun remix package of Danish breakbeat guru Badboe. For the uninitiated, Badboe has developed a style that has clear echoes of 60s and 70s funk yet still fits seamlessly into the modern musical landscape. This man has dipped his toe in almost any genre you care to name - from house to trance; hardcore to trip-hop. On Break The Funk we see his superlative breakbeat jams remixed by the genre's cognoscenti, with the insouciant Fuzzbox Inc remix of "Lose Your Funky Self" and the junkyard percussion on the Pulp Fusion reshape of "Funky Intro" among the many highlights on offer here.

Review:
Funk technician Basement Freaks teams up with Danish nu-funk legend Badboe for the first in this series of hook ups for excellent funk 'n' breaks label Bombastic Jam. "Suck Up The Thrill" rides a tight Moog bassline and a loose funk beat and features the P-Funk-esque vocals of Georges Perin, while "Boomshakala" comes in on a more old skool hip-hop vibe, with singer/rapper Lozen spitting rhymes over a chilled yet punchy mix of sampled breaks and gritty live funk-rock guitars.

Review:
Stalwarts of London's funk scene for some years now, and already seven-album veterans, the Baker Brothers gear up for the release of their brand new album Time To Testify with this one-track release of "Make Your Move". Drawing on more of a '60s mod and R&B flavour than previous releases, it's an excellent breakneck mix of James Chance-style frenzied funk and Northern Soul rhythms, and an intriguing prelude to October's album release.

Review:
The second single lifted from their excellent new album Time To Testify, UK funk juggernaut The Baker Brothers drop both the radio and album versions of the cowbell-imbued, gritty-guitared soul smash "Snap Back", with a pair of radical new mixes. Taking the live drums out and adding a slow and sunny house beat in, Pedders' rerub casts the goodtimes funk in a whole new light, while Mr Doris & Spaghetti Legs' remix uses the brass as launch point for a dubby excursion that takes in funky breaks and hip-hop 808 bass.

Review:
South coast funk-jazz types Baker Brothers have been plying their trade for yonks, delivering cut after cut of funk/soul goodness. Recently, they joined forces with sample pack makers Loopmasters to let up and coming studio boffins have a stab at remixing their "Snap Back" track. Here, the four winning entries get an airing. There's some decent material on show, from the low-slung, bass-driven soulfulness of Tomasz Betka's delicious rework, to the clav-happy bump of Funky Bijou's snappy revision. The most revolutionary remix comes from CMC and Silenta, whose fusion of Latin horns and urgent vocal cut-ups has great dancefloor potential.

Review:
Stalwarts of London's funk scene and already seven albums deep in the crates, The Baker Brothers latest LP Time To Testify sees the group add some grit and raw power to their already tight-as-fudge sound. Previous single "Make Your Move" is a joyous uptempo mix of Dennis Coffey and Northern Soul, while the dubby psych of "Decision Time" is yet another step up in the BB's game. Fans of their classic smooth songwriting won't be disappointed though - songs like "Pieces Of The Puzzle" capture their Stevie-inspired sunniness perfectly.
