Tudo Que Voca Podia Ser (Aroop Roy remix) - (5:42) 110 BPM
Burghesina (Aroop Roy remix) - (5:47)
Londoner Aroop Roy describes himself as an "artist and producer of many dimensions". In the past we've tended to call him a 'bearded soul boy". Anyway one thing that's true is that this guy sure knows how to blend Afro, soul, jazz and funk. This is his first release since album Nomadic Soul a few years ago and it sees the man tackle two of his favourite Brazilian tunes in his inimitable style. More please!
Gallowstreet (Rich Medina work it out remix) - (4:18) 115 BPM
Ethiopino (Kypski remix) - (3:16) 103 BPM
Marsvin (Kraak & Smaak remix) - (7:26) 123 BPM
Bokoor (San Proper bockaurodubmix) - (5:12) 123 BPM
Amsterdam Afrofunk fusionists Jungle By Night get the remix treatment. Each of these four cuts has been taken from their 2012 album Hidden and they've all been given super-respectful renditions. "Gallowstreet" enjoys a seductive slower tempo and a brand new vocal from Rich Medina, the frenetic horn jam "Ethiopino" gets a scratch-tastic b-boy facelift from Kypski while Kraak & Smaak take the guitars from "Marsvin" and reconstruct it into a full-on synth boogie disco joint. Finally, the good doctor San Proper takes the harmonica-heavy "Bokoor" and pressurises it with deep rolling dub vibes. Four fantastic remixes and a timely reminder of how tight Jungle By Night's originals are too.
