Review:
Sheffield's Kidnap Kid wears his influences on his sleeve, or on his Facebook page at least. For it is there where he proclaims his influences to be simply The Beatles. One listen to "So Close" and its apparent that he's very much about solid pop songs. Immaculately produced and unapologetically commercial, this tune features slick production, melodic synth melodies and a warbling Rihanna-style vocal. It's bound to be a hit. Elsewhere we get his own club mix, which is superior only by taking the original and adding housier beats. "Animaux" is similar, being strongly melodic and fluffy.

Review:
A huge release for his mega-successful house imprint Toolroom Records, Mark Knight teams up with former Skunk Anansie vocalist Skin for this whopping electro-house killer, which comes backed by some enormous remixes. Making smart use of the impassioned vocals, Knight gives them plenty of acapella space before building the huge digital beats back up around it. Noisia drops a typically destructive tech D&B rerub, while Tensnake lends a beautiful Balearic remake.

Review:
After making a storming start with Volume 1's "Devil Walking" and "Sax", Toolroom's Mark Knight reloads for the second instalment of his Bullets series - designed to provide DJs with the hottest tech-house joints for the coming months. "Alright" is a peak-hour classic in the making, thanks to some driving organ notes and a tastily jacking beat, while "Together" is a more maximal, piano-driven beast that works in some simply huge pitch builds over a rock solid house groove.

Review:
As well as their forthcoming takeover of the Brixton Academy in October, Toolroom are celebrating their fifth birthday in style with this collection of five mini-mixes from the night's headliners: Mark Knight, Fedde le Grand, Funkagenda, Michael Woods and D.Ramirez. Each around 20 minutes long, they're packed with huge house-shaped moments from the last five years - with each track available as individual full-length downloads.

Review:
The latest release on cult US label Symbols Recordings is a one-off treat by the label boss himself, Kastle. Literally bursting with musical ideas, "Red Light" often appears as a mash-up of different tunes, but nope, the gender-bending pitched RnB vocals, glam stomp beat, garage breaks, retro-house organs and trancey synth pads all belong to the one, gleamingly epic beast.
